This is what happens when I wind a bobbin. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?

I had the machine serviced several months ago, but am just now using it. I was hoping they would have fixed this problem. I might be able to call the store tomorrow ... they don't seem to have an email or a facebook page for me to share a picture. :(

Do you have the manual? this sounds silly but you could have the thread unwinding the wrong way. Or you could be threading the machine wrong when setting up to fill the bobbin. Post a pic of how the machine looks threaded and i might be able to tell but I haven't sewn in a while.

I'm assuming you haven't threaded the thread through the machine the correct route. Does it thread down in the lower well or up out of the machine. I have an OLD Bernina 707 and mine threads up out of the machine. I would dig out the manual if you still have it. Maybe you could take your machine in to the shop and demonstrate how you are doing it.

I think you might be over filling the bobbin. I don't put this much thread on mine ( I am by no means an expert with a machine though)

I always try to keep an eye on mine whilst winding, and if the thread starts to go astray, just take it off and rewind it by hand 'til I've corrected it. Also your bobbin could be too loose, usually mine 'clicks' when I put it in place, like the other ladies suggest, double check the manual :)

Looks like you are overfilling the bobbin for sure and the tension on the thread is too loose. There should be a little screw on the thread guide for the bobbin which you can loosen or tighten to run the thread smoothly onto the bobbin.

can't help here as I am hopeless on sewing... but glad to see you around here Tiff!!!!

Make sure it is threaded correctly, press the bobbin very firmly down, Hand wind the first few turns but keep a longer end so you still have a good grib on it , touch the pedal lightly with your foot , and keep a finger on top of your bobbin putting light resistance on it, now wind your bobbin at half the speed you normally would. This should help, Mine can be temperamental too.
