Homemade gifts | Pad Patter 11.28

@keepscrappin these are the jars my friend linked to - reminds me i have to raid my stash of crafty bits and googly eyes for tomorrow!

Those are so darn cute. My lil Megan saw these and said, "Awe... I wanna do that!" I guess I'd better plan some crafting time with her to make some for her teachers and friends. Thanks for posting the pix Justine.

Well, I just finished 4 calendars for my mother-in-love to give as gifts and one for her. I used the same layouts on them, but stalked Facebook and used different pictures on each one. My deadline was today, so I am glad that is done.

I now have another 2 other gifts I need to finish before Monday. One is making a framed college - scrapping with paper and scissors - for a friend-of-a-friend to give to her friend. The other is for the adult leaders gift exchange at Girl Scouts. I am making a glass block with lights inside, decorated with ribbon, etc. Something like this.

Love your blanket @tkradtke !! My youngest has been asking me to make him a blanket too and I decided 2 days ago that I should try to whip one up before Christmas. I just ordered the yarn yesterday from Michaels... I hope it comes fast! :giggle

I love those Caron cakes! I kinda want to try something with them too!

Clara has been asking for years and about three years ago, I started one for her. But I hadn't crocheted in years and had only done small projects before. I did everything wrong with it. I stitched it too tight, it was way too narrow and I messed up my transitions. She kept bugging me to finish, but this fall I told her it was over. I tied off what I had completed and gave it to the dog! :giggle

This time I accepted my weaknesses and have gone for row after row of a single stitch... no counting involved. And with the Caron Cake yarn, I get stripes without having to count rows and change yarns!

I will admit, I have been intrigued by this yarn from the moment I saw it, so that helped with my decision to give Clara's blanket another go. I would love to try some of the other colors. Have you seen Joann's version of the cakes... Sweet Rolls? Some pretty colors there too!

Good luck with your project! What pattern are you using?

This year: Sewing: Baby. haven't done homemade gifts since I went back to work - so I'm getting in the retirement grove this year by doing a crib layette for my grandson. The parents wanted a baby mario theme which we didn't find anywhere so I found the fabric, patterns we liked and voila. back in business. I may get back to some crocheting too. It feels great!

We do an annual Make or Bake with 12 friends (not always the same). You bring 12 handmade gifts, leave with 12. Tabatha and I both went last year but this year I'm not doing it. The 12 filled up while I was still deciding. I love the idea though!

so i finally got pics off my camera - these are what we made that night and i used some of my ye olde paper scrapping stash (eg. santa's belt buckle is a silver frame element) and printed some of Kate's December Doodads doodley elements to make tags for 2 of them ... that big jar needs another packet of red chocs!
