Home-schooling questions (or support group!)

It's tough. My son is getting back in his summer sleeping habits, which is not good. I gave him last week to just chill and not worry much, but he did spend most of it working on assignments for his teachers. He just does them at night instead of during the day lol.
Here's what I'm about to run in to. As of today, our schools are closed for the rest of the year. I'm super sad about that and not seeing my kiddos again, especially the seniors. We are still not sure at this point what we are going to have to do/provide for them so I am still working on those things at home during the day and getting them pushed out to Google Classroom and trying to stay in contact with everyone. But, add to that all the day cares are closing as of today and I will have at least one extra kiddo here during the day and possibly adding the 3 and 1 year old to that some or most days. Not sure how I am going to manage keeping up with teaching my students online and prepping lessons, 2 school age kids work with their work, and chasing the babies. SOS!

Lifelong homeschooler here. 7 kids ages 5-17. I'd love to help anyone that wants advice...but I also know it's all so overwhelming and I don't want to bog anyone down with too much info. Believe me, I could talk for hours and hours about homeschooling. LOL!

But my main advice would be to stick to some kind of schedule. Even if it's simple. Like, wake up at 8. Eat bkfst. Make your bed. Read. Take a walk. Lunch. Rest. Etc... I think kids like to know what is expected, but they still need some room to wiggle.

Another bit of advice is to relax. Read aloud with your kids, listen to good music, draw, play games, take walks. I don't know that this is the time to make your home feel like "school"....

As for us, we are just trucking along with a pretty normal schedule. Hubby works from home so for the most part, our life looks the same. All extracurricular activities have been canceled so we have a little bit more free time. Thankfully the weather has been decent and the kids can play outside a lot. We did subscribe to The Great Courses since they have a bit more free time. My 10 year old son is taking a course on Chess. My 13 year old is taking a course on drawing. My 17 year old is taking one on cake making. My 15 year old hasn't started one but I think she'll do one on architecture, painting, or music....or probably all!

But do feel free to aks questions!
