I was watching this show on Hoarding the other day and got to thinking about what stuff I could get rid of and what is the oldest thing I'm holding on to. Although I definitely get emotionally attached to things, I think I'm finally ready to let go of my high school papers and the cassette tapes we have in the basement.

What are some of the old things you are holding on to? Please tell me I'm not the only one, lol. Do you still have your grade school year books? Should I throw mine out? Do you have any stuffed animals from when you were a kid? (I gave those to the kids, but I'm ready to see those go too.):think

DH is much more of a hoarder than I am. We have an entire vacuum seal bag deal of clothes that he is sentimental about and refuses to get rid of. It drives me crazy!!! I do have things that I hold on to as well, but seriously. We also still have several totes of his favorite toys when he was a kid. Maybe because he is so crazy about it, I am all about getting rid of stuff though!

We have been doing that for weeks in preparation of the move. One of the things I was glad to get rid of and couldn't figure out why I kept in the first place was my college textbooks. I also ditched all the cassette tapes. Oh, and all the extra wedding invitations and envelopes. I kept a few but not all 50 of them!

I am sucker for sentimental things though, and have quite a collection. For example, notes from HS, stuffed animals, lots and lots of things for DS (baby clothes, halloween costumes, boppy pillow, etc). I also save cards, DS's art work, notes from school, ticket stubs...

So nope, you aren't the only one!

Definitely not a hoarder - we are in our 3rd house in our 9 years of marriage, so we just don't hold on to things if we don't need them! I did tell my husband today though that the pants I was wearing are about 11 or 12 years old - still wearing them at least though!

We have more stuff then I think we should (husband is more of a hoarder then I am) but we are in the same boat as MandaKay, we have moved 13 times in 10 years of marriage... i dump a TON of stuff when we move!

Holy cow! 13 times in 10 years. That's alot. I hear you about the dump. We did that when I was in high school. We moved 6 places in 3 years and I agree that you learn to live with just the necessities. But you don't have stuff at say your parents house, or in a storage bin anywhere?

ok im definately NOT a hoarder i am always throwing things out then realise when its gone that i needed it ha ha if i cant find a home for it its in the bin,my husband goes mad if he is around when i have a sort out he always goes through the black bin bag i have filled to check what ive thrown away and rescue things ill never have an antique cause things dont stay around long enough

I'm not too horrible bad - I HATE clutter and "unnecessary" things, but I do have a ton of books, and I have a drawer full of tarts that I just never seem to burn, but then everytime Yankee Candle has a sale, I buy more!

That show creeps me out...everytime I watch it I feel like I need to clean.

After my Mom died I was really bad...I felt like I had to keep everything that was hers. Since getting married and moving 5 times in 3 years (and we already know we are moving again in Decemeber) I have gotten really good about cleaning stuff out and donating it...except for my craft supplies lol.

omgosh! I love the hoarding show on A&E. Is that the one you watched?? I am not horrible really, but I keep all kinds of cards. I have some from when I was a child. lol!

LOL, I hoard in moderation but usually I say to DD and DH "when in doubt, throw it out". LOL... because they are both sooooo bad! DD has everything she has ever aquired in her 17 years, I think. DH would save those packets of soy sauce that come with the food delivery till he had a whole drawer full. I put an end to that. Haha.

I kept all of the playbills from the plays I have been in, some little love letters from my teen years and my smelly sticker collection from 6th grade.

I've just pursuaded myself to clear out all the old casettes (including all the mix tapes from friends) BUT I did keep the casette inserts, especially the fun ones handwritten and with silly notes added, like the U2 mix tape from an old boyfriend.

I have a plan to scrap them into a divided 12x12 page protector and add little journal spots or photos as I go.

I love that show :) I Was watching this morning and an old lady in a wheel chair had it sooo bad but it really was mostly junk and there was seriously like a foot of human poop through the entire house because she hadn't been able to get into her bathroom in over 2 years. We throw stuff out all the time, although our basement still seems to accumulate stuff. We usually clean it out and make a dump run every couple months. We do have 1 tub of stuff from our childhood but thats it.

OMG that is gross!!

We have a lot of stuff but we move regularly so we do get rid of lots. I still have a huge box of school and childhood stuff to go through and all my old teddies. I have no problem with getting rid of them but I just want to take photos first...unfortunately I've been meaning to take these photos for many years! :groan
