Hi everyone! I've been wanting to be a designer at The Lilypad for years... so that I'm finally here feels like a dream come true! When I got the wonderful news that I was accepted, there was one month before my store would open, but those 4 weeks were over before I knew it. I have filled my store with some of my favorite designs, but I'll be adding many more over the weeks and months to come.
Maybe some of you don't know me, well I'm Anja, the creator of A Whimsical Adventure. I live with my husband, daughter and two rescue cats in a small village in Belgium called Wanzele, on a peaceful and quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by meadows and a forest.
Being creative and making beautiful things was always part of my life. When I finished school and found my first job at the age of 21, I went to a school of fine art where I learnt to work with watercolors and pastels, make etchings and linocuts and so much more. But when I finally enrolled in a graphic design education, at the age of 37, a whole new world opened up for me.
Going digital allowed me to create my own world, bringing new life to the forgotten bits and pieces of antique ephemera, adding my own hand made textures, combining it all into unique digital kits and unique printables with a little spark of magic and mystery, sometimes sweet and romantic, dark and gothic at other times.
I have been a creative team member for many designers but the moment came when I decided to become a designer myself. I have long combined it with a parttime job as administrative assistant, but after a serious burnout in the fall of 2020 I decided to never return to the parttime job where I got the burnout, and to go for my design business fulltime. It was a bold decision and sure, I was scared. But I'm still doing it and loving it and I LOVE working from home!
