I was out of questions today so I asked for help from a random question generator :giggle:

When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
 
Back when I worked, I never knew what I was going to be asked. Serving in a supervisory and lab management position, it could be something simple or complex.

What I learned over the years is there are folks who make every attempt to solve problems on their own before asking for help. And there are some folks who are very afraid of making mistakes and will ask for help before attempting to solve a problem on their own. And there are also folks who will pass off their problems onto you, so they do not have to deal with the problem.

I know I have been all three types of people!!! So no judgment from me. I have always preferred environments where people feel like they can take risks and be problem solvers. But I have been in toxic work environments too. I have also been so busy and drowning in workload that I have purposely passed off "problems" to other folks (but was pretty honest with what I was doing).

I work really hard with my students on making them try before asking for help.
But other than students asking for help with everything all day long lol, I guess I most often get asked for help with tech stuff.
 
At home I am most often asked for help to find something for my husband or buy something for one of my daughters.
 
Church: tech support, sign ups, food, decorating/gift wrapping

Home: cooking, laundry/cleaning, tech support, $$$

I was this way with my Soldiers. :beat I always told them that one day they would be in my shoes and have to help THEIR Soldiers...so try to figure things out then come get me when the barrier is too great.

I am overly careful about the location of things because I spent so much time at a law firm trying to find files or documents or something else. I never wanted to have to search for anything ever again. My phone is usually with me. My keys and wallet are always in my purse. My purse is in the same location. Drawers and closets are organized (well, they USED to be - they need a good clean out), with everything having a place and a place for everything. Hubby had my keys in the past couple of months and he misplaced them. Drove me nuts. I was like, put them back where they belong! LOL
 
I am asked for all sorts of help nowadays. With living in a small retirement village with me being the youngest resident, I often get the mobile phone problem questions.
 
Hmm... probably people mostly ask me to do something for them or make something for them.
