Help merging layers

I've had to start doing my pages for MOC in PS CC as my PSE keeps crashing and corrupting my pages. Its a huge learning curve and I'm struggling to work out how to do some things. I want to be able to merge two layers. In PSE I just used merged down but I don't seem to be able to do this. I want to merge them so I can clip one paper to both of them. I know I can duplicate the paper and clip it to each one separately but I'm sure there must be a way to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you want to merge two layers together (and then clip one paper to them) just select the two layers you want to merge and then hit CTRL-E. I use PS CS5 so there is a possibility that it's different in CC, but give that a shot. Hope that helps!
