Problem SOLVED
I've just learned how to use psd-templates in GIMP - but how do I combine 2 templates? Do I have to move layer by layer from one tp to the other?

I am not sure as i have never used Gimp. I believe @umyesh Monica does so when she gets up and checks forum, if she does use Gimp perhaps she could help.

Re layers etc that is what we do in PS is highlight the layers in the temp and drag over to workspace. Perhaps Gimp is the same?? Maybe try that while you wait .

Wish i could help further.

That's what I tried, but no.

Can I say it was a brilliant idea to switch to a new program in January with all the MOC challenges? :lol
LOL You crack me up. Is there pngs you can bring in? Usually the PNGs are in order.. start at the bottom of the list to the top of the second template. Worth a try. So sorry I never used Gimp through the years. Just Paint Shop Pro, then Photo Impact Then Photo shop & PSE.

I guess that's what I'll have to do, unless someone comes along with some Gimp Magic & know something easier. I'm so behind with MOC, I'm not sure I'll make it this year. Still haven't given up ....

I haven't used it since then & I don't have it installed on my current laptop. Sorry I don't think I can be much help here. I hope it's a very minimal template you're trying to add in piece by piece might be the only way

It was your tutorial that helped me to use a template in GIMP in the first place. :heartlub
I'm fine with moving layer by layer - I'm just hoping there's an easier way, cuz I'm lazy.

@tanteva

Have you tried "open as layers" ? I don't know if it's the good name, so I made a screenshot. The line just under "Open"

I tried to open two templates like that in the same document and I have all the layers. You can move them as usual after.
I hope this helps

I'll try. Thanks! Right now I'm away from the computer. Sitting in my reading chair with a sleeping cat on my lap.

Well, the wise part about make a program switch in January is that it would force you to use it every day and maybe get the hang of it quicker?
When you switch software, you only need to learn where the functions are because you already know the technique.
Google is our friend in this case, showing us which menu the function is in.
And it's true that practicing every day makes it easier ; you learn the ropes faster.

I used Affinity since December and I'm glad I made all my MOC with it and I'm not lost.

I switched from PSE to PSCC during MOC a couple of years ago and it definitely made me learn it. For the most part, I'm good with PSCC now, but from time to time I have to google stuff when I can't find the tool I want or remember the shortcut keys.

@tanteva I'm glad to see that you got a solution, since I am no help here! ;)
But I am curious, why did you choose gimp for your program switch? Was there a particular reason?
Since affinity is also free now and with @Angela Toucan we have great tutorials and a lot of support here, I was just wondering. :)

@tanteva....you can just drag and drop PSD files into GIMP. I just open the folder the template or element is in and drag it into the layers panel at the side of the screen. That's what I do for everything. I don't use the "open layers" from the menu. Let me know if you have any other questions about GIMP. While I am not an expert by any means, I have been using GIMP for over 10 years.

Sorry I’m so late to the party! When I combine templates I open one, make sure I’m on the background layer, then open the other. After deleting the background layer of the second I delete/ arrange the layers to my liking.

It all started with that I had to buy a new computer. When I tried to install my old PSE, it didn't work. The computer crashed. I downloaded PSE26 and tried it for the free 7-day trial - and it was like a completely new program. I jumped from PSE11 to PSE26 - I can tell you: the program has evolved over the years! :lol

Then I decided to try GIMP since it's open-source and free. Was considering Affinity, but to be honest - I don't trust a company that says something is free. Like my son says: "If it's free, you're the product." I like the idea of open-source.
