I'm curious, at what you keep your heat setting in your home at during the winter?

I'm in Canada so the winters here can be a tad nippy at times.. and we've moved into our house in August, so this is our first winter here, so I am wondering what our heating bill will be... it is an older house and probably not the best insulated....

What is your main method of heating?

I am warm natured so I usually keep the heat on low but lately, I've been chilly so I've kept it at about 71-73... anything higher and I am way too hot.

We keep the thermostat set to 65. Gas is just so high here...our bill will top out at $200 with it set that low, and the heat is the only thing we have that is gas.
We have a couple little space heaters we use, too, because the house is drafty.
Other than that it's warm jammies, socks, and blankies for everyone.

I could take it a little cooler in the house but DH runs around here half-naked (I know...TMI!) but geez, he complains about how cool it is and I buy him lounge pants and shirts but he just doesn't get it! It's usually around 77-78 degrees in here. I think its an age thing!

We have central heat. I am in Texas. I keep our thermostat at about 72 or 73 year round.

Melanie, that's all men... lol... mine whines that he's cold and I am burning up (usually) and he's in a pair of shorts with a blanket... like seriously? put on some pants and a long sleeve shirt... lol

Mine is central heat/air all electric, so fortunately I don't have to deal with the stoooopid gas company and their outrageous prices.

ALSO... does anyone else use a fireplace? Ours is woodburning and my husband gets it hot enough to melt the steel... he makes WARM fires... too warm sometimes!

I miss our wood burning stove! We have gas here as well. I just turned up the heat..lol!

We have a programmable thermostat, so during the day when we are gone it is set at 62, at night 65, and then weekends when we are home 65 - sometimes we set it to 70 when we are really cold. We also have a real fireplace in our living room which I LOVE starting in the winder to warm us up while watching tv at night. Our highest heat bill was about 345 once - EEK. I hate gas prices.

ours is set at 64 pretty much all the time. kids all sleep in footies with a couple of blankets...

We used to keep it at 68 during the day, but we've gone up to 70 in the past couple of years. At night we keep it at 65, and when we're not home during the day it's at 60.

I do not like the heaters. We usually only turn them on at night on cold nights and then maybe 66.
