It's been threatening to unleash on us all day but the clouds now look more serious. The storms aren't even here yet! They have tornado warnings on the Oklahoma border, flash flood watches out and are expecting a WORSE flooding event than last April.

We were lucky though, some people had 10 feet of water inside, we only had inches... thanks to my husband going out to dig trenches and find the problem... the neighbors had COVERED the only storm drain... Hopefully that means this event won't be as bad BUT the weather guy posted to me on facebook when I asked and said they expect the rain/flooding to be worse than last year... I just hope no one has covered that drain again.

I've done everything my husband would have done (minus dig trenches) and thankfully I am NOT alone. My sister (she's 27) is here with me preparing to house sit while I am out of town later this week.

So I am sitting here right now making sure I try to stay relaxed.

Anyone else affected by this mess? I know they had weather near Dallas today (wind powerful enough to blow over semi trucks!!) and Scott said it's going to storm tonight.
 
Holy cow! That is SO much water. We have never had that kind of flooding where we live and our house is up on a little hill, so the worst things would be our basement getting water. I hope you don't have to deal with that much rain again all by yourself! Stay safe!
 
I guess if there is good news its that neither Scott or I just had surgery... last year, I'd just had my appendix out a few days before and the year before that, Scott had just had nasal surgery. Also last year, they shut down the college campus... which has NEVER happened in history for rain/flooding. Yikes!
 
Hope this one is not as bad... I remember your videos from last year!!

We just had a brief tornado scare... nothing serious tho, they like to get our blood pumping.
Now we just wait to see if we flood or not. They said tomorrow afternoon is the highest chance of flooding.
We do have a really pretty thunderstorm though...
 
Stay safe Kat! Looks like the western part of the state is going to get a whollup of rain today and tomorrow. We just got Flash Flood warnings issued here in central AR. And we've been watching the weather going on in the DFW area since 2 of our kids live there.

Last year was a disaster! We live about 7 miles from Vilonia where a tornado just about wiped out an entire town. Way too close for comfort. Hoping this year isn't as bad.

Hope you don't get anything too severe! The winds yesterday knocked down a section of our fence, but it's in pretty sad shape anyway, so that's not saying too much. Stupid loud/bright storm kept me up half the night and is still raging now. I am not a fan of storms of any type, so I will be glad when this weather has passed!
 
I am very happy to report that we seem to have beaten even the flooding. I am so relieved. The rain they described was absolutely nothing like what we actually got. It's really just barely rained enough to drench the yard. The worst part is getting all worried and finding out nothing happens. LOL.
 
So glad it turned out milder, Kat! Things here cleared off much earlier than predicted as well. :)
