Does anyone have the same? I try to eat healthier so I ramped up the fish and veggies, less carbs but I am hungry an hour later! :thumbsdowns So then I end up grabbing something that is on the no no list so I am no longer feeling hungry. The weird thing is: bad food makes me feel full longer than the healthy stuff. :groan So I think I need to go grab me some chocolate now :giggle :yesss

Sometimes I just don't feel satisfied with meat and veggies. I need a bit of fat too. I try to balance it all out while still watching the calories. If I eat too low fat I don't feel satisfied.

I don't watch calories at all. Just the % of carbs, fibre, and fat. Low carb really needs to go with high fat. Also, I eat lots of chocolate. ;) It just has to be dark!

I agree! Whenever I start to watch what I'm eating again I feel like I'm ALWAYS hungry. It does get better after the first week though as your stomach will shrink and your body will get used to eating smaller meals and portions.

I follow a guy called Tim Noakes (the meal revolution) and he is adamant that we need to limit carbs and increase fat. It goes against what we have been programmed but it does work. Salad with olive oil keeps me fuller for much longer than the same salad with no oil.

I agree - once you get your body used to the new regime it does get better, but going too low on the fat as well as the carbs is a recipe for a binge-eating session with me, lol!

I really feel like we've been conned a little over the years into seeing fat as 'the enemy', while sugars have slipped under the radar a bit. Unfortunately the metabolism is such a complicated system and most of the information out there is either really radical or really 'by the book' so I don't know what to believe, even the stuff that sounds like common sense.

My story w/ being hungry is a LONG one. For as long as I can remember (since early childhood) I was always hungry, no matter how much I ate. As you can imagine, I was always overweight from about 3rd grade on, too. It wasn't until about a year ago, I finally figured out what my problem was. I basically cannot eat carbs/sugars. While I'm not sure if I fall under the "technical" definition of being hypoglycemic, I have to follow the HG diet and I do so much better on it. Do I miss carbs? YES! but I don't miss what they do to me. Being hungry when first going low carb is pretty normal. But, the great thing about the HG diet is you can eat as much as you want of the safe foods and yes, eat more good fats. Keep at it, you'll feel better eventually once your body adjusts.

I think I'm always just mentally hungry. If I know I'm not supposed to eat, I suddenly want to EAT THE WORLD.

Oh, absolutely - at a WW meeting this week they're discussing options at Starbucks etc (like there are any!) and it REALLY wasn't helping!

My DH and I are on the 5x2 plan so restricted eating for 2 days a week - yep we go hungry and it is hard but on our normal days don't have to worry about what we eat although we are tending to eat less then as well. It works for us though and the weight is coming off better than any other eating plan I have tried. I guess cause it's pretty easy to just concentrate on two days a week instead of every day.

I agree that no fats in your diet isn't good for you. Life needs flavour!

And no chocolate - unimaginable....
