Mathieu is 5 years old and within 2 hours he is going to have his first official football training!!! :thumbsups

He has been looking forward to it whole summer, talking about being a 'runner' or the keeper. I don't think he has made his mind up yet.
I was prepping his clothes just now and he came asking of he could wear the uniform. I answered positivly. And then he screamed 'Yay' and was jumping up and down from joy!!!

So fun for the mommie to see him so enthousiastic about it and seeing him cheering with joy.

Do you (grand)children have something that enthousiams them that much? :heartslub

Ps. I'll come back to post a photo when he is completely dressed as a footballplayer...

My youngest son's name is also Mathieu! He just turned 7!

My boys are real Canadian boys. They live and breathe hockey! They got to participate in a hockey school that was run by our local OHL (Ontario Hockey League) team and had a blast and learned lots from these players that they look up to. We can't wait for our season to officially start next week! :)

Oh, it must be fun they share the passion for the same sport!

Perhaps in time you will have heard and seen enough of it, but for them, it must be fun to be able to talk about it at home.
I would be afraid though, hockey seems to be such a contact sport for me. I would be afraid he would get hurt a lot.

Or am I wrong?

How exciting!I remember those days :).

My son is soon to be 17 and is still involved in baseball and hockey (another Canadian). I have never tired of it, love to watch him play.

I am looking forward to his picture. It's so wonderful when they find their love of sport so young.

Hockey for young kids has lots of rules about no physical contact, so it is probably safer than playing soccer/football. My youngest son (8) broke his collarbone after being slide-tackled in soccer in June. And I would have definitely expected soccer to be safer than North American football, which he also plays, but hasn't (luckily) been injured at all.

Heather... I have a LOT of friends whose kids have done both North American football and soccer and they ALL said soccer is way more injury prone. Who knew!?

My boys both play soccer. The youngest really loves it, the oldest kinda does it more to play with friends.

My daughter, who is 5, is that way about animals.

The only two times in her life when she's ever been speechless were the first time we took her to the circus and this past summer when she saw the dolphin show at the zoo. She just vibrated with joy. :heartlub

Hhhmmm, yeah, strange that soccers seems to be more dangerous. But I believ you of course!
I'm fetching a photo now!

I'm not surprised about the injuries. American football has padding & a helmet. Soccer has shin guards & no helmet. My 4yr old son loves soccer. My 6yr old son loves tap dance. The funny thing is, I think they get most excited about the library. Go figure.

Unfortunately, they were training on the completely other side of the field and allthough my lens is good for far away shots, it was too far. And I had a 3 year old asking for some mommy attention too... I was a bit disappointed for not being able to take some close-up shots, but on the other hand, I saw he had so much fun!

Thank you ladies #pridemommy#
