So DH was asking when it would happen about a week ago but it was only today I decided I was done and wanted everything packed away for another 11 odd months so we had the lounge room back. Some years I have dug my heels in to nearly Australia day (the 26th) but most years it's about this time.

How quickly do you 'un-Christmas' (as we call it at our place)?

Yes, this past weekend. I want it down on January 1, but I was just too tired. My husband wants it up through mid-February. Gaah! I need the space back from the tree and just having everything gone gives the house a fresh look for the new year.

lol... we are a fast crowd. We wait until my son's birthday is over (Dec 7) and have it all back down by January 1. This year it was down on 12/29-12-30 since we had plans on New Years Weekend. I didn't want Jan 1 to be a chore day, so we opted to do it before.

Plus, we have a real tree, so that negates having it for a long time. :)

Our tree and indoor decor was down new years day, and hubby took lights down this past weekend. We're usually fairly quick with it.

We get a real tree the day after Thanksgiving, so by Christmas the tree is done. We took everything down the first day my husband was off after Christmas. But I kept finding some random thing that got missed... the Christmas hand towel in the bathroom that got washed, a random decoration I overlooked... so now I have a small pile to take up in the attic with the rest of our Christmas stuff.

Took everything down last Saturday 1/6/2018. It doesn't take long for us.. the tree ornaments and a few other things. I did miss a Christmas Critter so I put it in the back of the shelf in my collection :) I didn't feel like digging out the plastic container again to put it away! The worst part is pushing the tree in the box back up the stairs.

I only had 2 small table trees, a Precious Moments nativity and another small "Christmas in Heaven" display to put away. I did it last Thursday. That was the first day my back wasn't hurting and I was warm enough to come out from under the blanket on the couch.

I'd be happy to get everything packed up on the 26th. I'm not a Scrooge: I just like getting my house back in order before the kids get back to school and DH goes back to work. This year everything was boxed up on Jan 1 cuz DH likes to have it out longer so we compromised: it could stay out until his last day of vacation since his parents were coming on the 5th for a weekend visit and I did NOT want my living room looking like the set of some weird post-Apocalyptic Christmas movie.

I packed Christmas up on the 27th. I was home and had the time so I figured I'd just get it over with.

We had our artificial trees up at the beginning of November, but just the lights on the tree. Day after Thanksgiving we put up all the decorations. Our trees/decoration were put away on New Years day.

After the crazy clutter on Christmas, I usually want the mess and all the extra decorations gone as fast as possible, but I'm usually to worn out right away to do it. Usually it's gone by NYE as we host a party most years. This year we didn't get it down until New Years Day.

The outside lights will have to stay up until spring (although turn off) because they are crusted to the house in ice currently. :giggle

Usually we put our Christmas stuff up right after Thanksgiving, but DH was sick this year, and then about the time he got better, I got sick. So the decorating didn't happen until around the 16th/17th. We kept it much simpler this year since I was still sick even at that point. Everything got put away by New Year's before the kids went back to school.

My favorite thing about Christmas decorations is that my very cluttered house feels relatively empty by comparison after everything goes back up in the attic, so I get to enjoy a few weeks of feeling that "ahhh" of space before the stuff starts closing in on me again. :giggle

I got my house un-Christmas'ed about a week ago, but I still haven't done my storefront at my photo studio. EEK! I need to get on that!!

We don't have time anymore to do much for Christmas, but we since we host the Christmas gatherings for our families, we make sure to at least put our tree up. This year, we had just the tree and it only had lights and garland on it; no ornaments. My husband took it down one day last week, before I came home from work.

We had a live tree this year so we also had to undecorate soon after Christmas. Normally I'm ok with anytime the week of New year's depending on when school starts back up again. We like to linger in the holidays before we have to get back to the normal schedule!

We had most down New Year's Day and then finished up the following weekend. I can't stand Christmas clutter after Christmas!

We took ours down a week ago. We have a real tree so it has to come down and then I just want everything else put away too.

My family has decided they want the tree to stay up for another year. So the spring decorations for it will be coming out soon. We love the atmosphere it brings into our home year round and have decorations for each season that we put on it. I can't remember though if this will be the third year or the fourth year in a row now. :)

Do I get a prize? My trees are both still up... However, I did move all the knick knacky things to the dinning room, pending putting away in the boxes. I did take down the garland on the stairs, boxed it up, and it is back in storage. I also moved all the storage boxes downstairs. Hmmm - maybe later tonight or Saturday...

Some times I leave the icicle lights up until February. I may take them down Saturday if I get the trees down before then.
