Have You Seen the News??

I picked it up today and have played a little with it. There are 3 core kits and a card kit included, and about 8 page layouts and a dozen photo collage layouts. I set up several collage cards to print & embellish, and think I will be using it to make dd's travel album (she can do it, actually) and then uploading it to shutterfly to print.

It lets you add pics from your albums or Dropbox, so the first think go tried today was adding journal cards from my own kits to my Dropbox folder - worked like a charm! There are also some basic photo tools included once your photos are dragged in - contrast, sharpness, brightness, etc).

I like it more than I was expecting to - and the use of Siri to dictate journaling is pretty nifty too ;)

Huh, I'm way more interested now that I just realized I could easily pull in other journal cards. But I do my PL in a 6x8 album so I'm not sure it would be that useful for me. Maybe I'll download it when I'm bored someday. :)

I was excited about the being able to use your own cards through dropbox but then I have been reading in the reviews that you can't add text to them so that kinda defeats the purpose. I am also seeing people list problems with the export size for printing. I guess I will wait to see how the bugs get ironed out.

I'm waiting a bit to try. It sounds fun but it would be another app that might make me feel like it's more work in the long run. For me, I like shadows, and I don't think it has that ability yet. For me to add embellishments and shadows, I would have to finish it off in Photoshop. That won't save me time.... at least that I can see for now.

We will see... I'd hope to be proven wrong, lol! It looks pretty!

I bought it and tried it out yesterday. They will definitely give you a much more simplistic layout than what most digital gals are used to. However, the convenience was pretty amazing. I did a 2- page spread, exported it, and then quickly pulled together my week 36 using TLP goodies - so basically, it was a quick way to do a mock-up of my page and then I just copied it in PSE. Considering how behind I am in PL, it was a pretty efficient way to use 30 minutes.

I saw someone else mention that they will put together their 12x12 spread and then open it in PSE and add journaling on top of photos that way.

yeah. I'm not very patient so I went ahead and bought it. I like the idea of it but I am such an embellisher so not sure about the simplicity of it yet. I had not thought about pulling it into photoshop to finish it up so I will have to give that a try. Since 90% of the photos for my PL come from my phone I do see advantages to this app but there's no way I can do my PL pages without my TLP goodies.

I'm intrigued by the app. I don't think I would use it for my current pages, but I think it could be a quick way to get older pages done (I have an itch to go back and make project life-ish books for past years). I'm just not sure that makes sense though since those older photos are on my computer or external drives. Does it take more time to get those photos to a usable place than the app saves?

I think that is a great use for it! I would drop a month of photos at a time into a Dropbox folder and work one month at a time. In fact, I think that will be a wonderful way to use my carpool waiting time!

I am a hybrid girl, so for me it makes use of pockets of time to get my photo collages done and ready to print & embellish when I get home - total time-saving win if I will actually do it! ;)

P.s - the photo collage sizes are both 4x6 and 6x8

Okay... you've about talked me into it! :-) I am FOREVER sitting at my daughter's dance classes and you can only play so many games. I could be productive instead! If I'm using dropbox, I would need access to the internet to use it right? Just worried about data usage and the wifi there is spotty. You have me motivated! I really want to try to make this work! I pine away for project life books for past years, but had decided that it would just never happen. But with the app and the downtime at dance, it's now a possibility.

I bought the app. I think I'm going to use it to "plan" my pages. Put the photos and journaling where I want them... then I can just whip together the page on my computer adding embellishments and journal cards at that time. I think I'll probably spend my Tuesday evenings planning my pages - 3.5 hours at the dance studio while my daughters and my youngest son have their classes.

Hmmm.... I really like the idea of planning... but I have a question. You are stuck into the boxy layout types since it is for Project Life right? You can't scrap outside of those boxed templates right? I just want to make sure I understand the app a little better. I know it isn't expensive, but I guess I just want to know the details and how it would help or not help me. kwim?

Yes, you do have to place the cards/photos in the template spaces. (There are pretty much every page design possible available, so squares and rectangles). Other than journaling on top if them, there is just one "thing" per space.

^^ exactly. I plan to use this to help me gather my photos and journaling only. Pre-planning so when I sit down at the computer to make the page, I already know what template I'm using and where the photos and journaling go. Then I get to have more time to make the page pretty & fun!!

Me too.
As I'm an Android user, I cannot buy it, but one of my friend does. I can see they have kits designed by Paislee Press, one of my fav designers. But I always want to add more elements to my project life pages. This app would be a time-saver for the process of inserting photos and journal cards, but I still think I have to send them to my computer, "decorate" more and finish it by Photoshop.
