Hashtags seem to divide people, they either love them or hate them. What do you think? Do you use them regularly?

I do miss easily readable sentences when they get ridiculously long but I find them more and more handy. Today I made some Christmas scrapbook pages but I'm so behind on printing that I haven't printed Christmas pages since 2014 (gasp - I know, I know). Anyway, I knew I'd scrapped some of my shots from last year but didn't want to pull out my other EHD to find them. I ended up deciding against scrolling back thru a ton of pages in the gallery here and searched my instagram for the # christmasscrapbooking that I started using a few years ago instead, I think I ended up scrolling a lot less. (And no, I'm not a keyword or tagger with my kits and pages so maybe that's easier but hashtags do seem useful seeing I have been using them anyway)

Guess I'm in the "hate 'em" crowd. Don't use them and they drive me nuts. I also don't use social media so really no use to use them. If I'm putting something on FB (only SM I use), I spell out what I want to say.

Guess it is my age showing because I also despise long, run on sentences. Punctuation and capitalization is a good thing.

I use them a lot when posting scrapping pages on Instagram, and I do like to use them just for fun occasionally. I wish I had gotten in a habit a long time ago of using them for searchable reasons, like come up with my own so I could find things easily on social media. I keep thinking that one day I'm going to go back through my Instagram and add some that will help me actually use them for a practical purpose.

I'm exactly like Jan ... use them for IG and sometimes have fun with them on my pages too. I never thought to use them as a search function ... that's pretty clever!

I use them on IG and sometimes for personal. I have a friend who uses them all the time with her photos and she just cracks me up b/c she comes up with the funniest hashtags.

I don't bother usually. But in 2014 when I was establishing my habit of daily walks I decided to encourage myself I would post a photo from my walk on IG every day and I hashtagged them #mdktryingtobedailywalk. A year later, I used the hashtag to gather all the photos and printed them in a small square photobook.

But, I do like them at the end of an Instagram post so that I can click on a brand or designer or whatever and find more info. I use them on my CT LO posts on IG, but I don't do the full sentence thing. :) If it takes more work to decipher the hashtag, then it isn't worth it, ya know?
Oh, and IMO, keywords and tags on a computer are great! I love them! It's been the easiest way to find stuff in my digi stash.

I don't really get them. My daughter and I say one too each other and just laugh. #sorrynotsorry I have no idea where it came from but we laugh so hard whenever we have a reason to say it. She took the last onion bagel, wiggled her eyebrows, and says.
"Hey mom, I took the last bagel. It was good. #sorrynotsorry
Then we laugh.

I like to use them ironically. As in to mock the hashtag.
The gas station has donuts right now that I think they think are snowflakes. They are not. They are hashtags.
I tried to use a hashtag on instagram. #adventuresofmjm Wouldn't you know it, some frat boys used it for a party weekend. Yeah, I am so not into searching by hashtag anymore!
And I still will randomly tease the teens in my life and say "pound cute? What does that mean? You going to the pound?"

I was following the live filming of the show "The Amazing Race" (season 30) in October on IG. Know what I got when I searched using various hashtags for it? A bunch of non-related crap, some of it being stuff kids should not be seeing. Yeah, I know because of its popularity people jumped on their hashtag to get their stuff seen but it is so aggravating if you are trying to follow something. I finally gave up and let the seasoned TAR detectives do the work of sifting through the crap.

I find them fun! I don't use them often, only since I'm not a big Social Media user, but when I do use them, it's usually funny. I like seeing how things progress and how things change with communication and things like this. I like to learn it, and then see how I end up using it myself! :) #whilesentencesdrivesaranutsIfindthemhilarious #thosearethebestones #learningtoreadalloveragain #typingandbackspacingtoremovemyspacescauseIforgetlol :compcoffee

I kind of like them. I especially like them on instagram to click on and look at other related items. On facebook I think they can be fun.

I am in the dislike crowd.. I am not a tweeter so the hashtags make me nuts!

I use them from time to time; mostly when I'm being snarky though, or when I'm trying to be silly...I'm horrible at using IG and I don't have a Twitter account, I just don't understand the point of Twitter.

I quite like them but I don't use them often. Not a big fan of the long full sentence ones, some are so hard to read and hurt my brain, but I do enjoy the witty ones and I like using them sometimes when I can't really think of sentences or I am sick of using the same sentence over and over #changeitup
I don't often use them as a search function, more often than not it isn't helpful.

#nolongeragrammarnazi Yes, I use them on IG and like them. I rarely use them as a search function but in regular IG postings, they make life fun. My son (the chef) uses them a lot with his network of chefs etc. His wife showed him how to do the main list of 20 or so hashtags via Notes and copy and paste. It's networking for him.
