It's Veteran's Day in the U.S. and a day to honor those who have served and continue to serve our nation well. Regardless of political views, men and women make sacrifices every day for our freedoms. And their families do as well.

My husband (gulf war), father (viet nam) and GF (WWII) served in the Army. I live in an Army town now (Ft. Benning). We know how difficult it can be. And I appreciate our military, past and present. Today and everyday.

It's Remembrance Day here in Canada and such an emotional day to reflect and give thanks to those who served and continue to serve, for those who sacrificed their life and those who still among us making their own sacrifices and their families as well.

My grandfather served in both World Wars and my great uncle was in WWII for Great Britain. My parents remember hearing the sirens going off and the shortages of different items. Mom says she remembers her dad working long hours to do his part as he was not able to serve.

My brother was a Master Warrant Officer in the Army Cadets growing up and is now a Police Sergeant. I am going to the parade and Cenotaph this morning for the service and to see my brother march for the first time since he was an Army Cadet.

Thank you to all who have served and those who continue to do so, the sacrifices you and your families make will not be forgotten.
