My curly hair friends, looking for hair dryer recommendations. Primarily for diffusing curls but always willing to explore a multi tasking gadget.

I'm curious too... my hair is naturally wavy, but since I don't know how to do it, I straighten it. lol!

I'll have to look at mine when I'm home, but I just texted my hairdresser and asked her what kind to get and she said... oh I'll go buy one for you at the supply store (certified people only can shop there). It has the extra diffuser attachment which is a pain to find a place to store it, but really does help a LOT with the curls.

I'm a straight hair girlie, so I'm no help. But I'm here for the responses because I could use a new hair dryer!

I'm team air-dry for the win! I have a hair dryer with a diffuser, but I very (very) rarely use it. For me, it's more about what product I use than it is about the drying method (but I'm sure it depends on hair type). I have pretty coily hair (3B).

I airdry overnight and finish/smooth in the AM. I have thick wavy but not coarse hair.
I saved points at Ulta forever and splurged on fancy dryer using them all. Guess what - I didn't love it. It dried my hair out terribly within a month and I had to stop using it (even though I used salon quality heat protection spray). I do see they've added new technology, so perhaps they are better now, but the one I have has rave reviews (just not from me).

I'm back using a ceramic dryer and am careful not to overdry.
I agree with Sheri - good products are important - whether you are wearing hair curly or straight or just to protect from the heat.

My hair was stick straight when I was younger, and only has some wave now, so I can't speak to the effectiveness for curls, but my hair dryer does have a diffuser attachment. Kaylee has curlier hair and used it a few times (she usually just air dries) and it seemed to work fine, but we have nothing to compare to. For $20 it might be worth a shot? It's this Revlon one from Target:

I bought it about a year and a half ago to replace my very similar one that I purchased ages and ages ago (a decade? maybe more?). I use it about 3x a week. So far it works great. :)

I pull my hair back every day so I'm no help here. I hope you find a good one! I used an old diffuser to curl my son's hair for crazy hair day and it was adorable.

My hair is more on the loose curl side. Using a diffuser with the right product does make my curl tighter (which I prefer that curl look vs the air dry curl look). I did just pull the trigger on a shark smoothstyle pro, between a sale, a coupon, ulta points and gift card---I only came out of pocket very minimal. A little nervous because did I think I would go for a more expensive hair dryer. Plus side is it does several things which does replace a few of my gadgets.
