I am a woman that does everything the same on almost everything. I drink one cup of coffee standing by the pot. Refill cup, pick up 2 dog treats and walk to chair. Give dog medicine, one treat each and read my bible. EVERYday...and my days are pretty much the same.
I have been a stay at home mom, homemaker for over 25 years. I love it. I clean during day (whilst homeschooling) and collapse in evening. This week.
I didn't clean at all in the day.
I mean laundry, and dishes..yada yada, but dust, vacuuming and such. I DIDN"T do it!
The world survived and tonight, I did it all in ONE hour! ONE!
showered and am sitting here, guilt free, not exhausted, but rather proud of myself?

So have you broke out of any habits, or ruts lately?

Well, good on you and here's to lots more housework free days now you have discovered them :tu

I am a creature of habit too. Nothing feels quite right if I haven't followed the usual morning routine and breakfast and I am not fond of things being sprung on me. But we love travelling even though the first few days in particular are always tiring and challenging, and then everything is different. We are working while in a cheap(ish) airbnb place on a Pacific Island right now. Means getting up at 4.45am to work thanks to timezones etc but it has worked out and we got the break (of sorts) we really needed :yahoo

I am a creature of habit .... on work days .... the rest of teh time my day is a bit of a free for all :gigggle

I like having a routine. If I don't have a plan for the day, I'm probably going to waste the morning playing games on my phone.

I need a routine to make sure I start habits... I have been not great with personal/ self care for awhile, so creating routines I do every day has been how I got back into it. Simple things like brushing my hair, getting dressed, brushing teeth. Cleaning has been better, but still needs work... I have an AM list and a PM list I'm trying to make routine.

Certain things always are the same: cup of coffee in the morning, and social media while I'm drinking it.
Routine before leaving the house: check that all doors are shut/locked and TV is on for SugarDog. Each night before bed: ensure all doors are shut/locked, dog's fed and watered, night lights on...

I'm a habit/routine person... but there is leeway for when things need to get done by... I also do something little every day to keep things controllable - maybe a load of laundry or fold a load, put one away, load dishwasher, etc. Mostly chores, lol! Same with the kids... something every day to help out.

When I was working, I thrived on routine but now... I am happy to just go with the flow (as much as I can).

See I was actually trying to contemplate this question and listen to what others were saying and then Bart distracted me. LOL

I am a creature of habit. I eat the same thing for breakfast nearly every day. It varies in its ingredients though. Scrambled eggs with veggies, often wrapped in a flour tortilla but sometimes on bread or just in a bowl. Just for one example.

I need to think more about whether I've broken any habits recently. Nothing immediately comes to mind.

I tend to do the same things all the time too, but I think everybody does. I'm on a low carb diet lately so I had to break my habit of having a bagel for breakfast every morning, among many other eating ruts.

I'm pretty much a creature of habit. Laundry on Fridays, up at five to get to work, dinner at 6.. I'm trying to break out of that though getting ready for retirement, which I do NOT want to be structured.
This week I did two loads of laundry on Tuesday and two on Thursday. Getting myself to manage to sleep in for a change is my next hurdle.

Some things are habits...like a load of laundry every morning (the machines are upstairs outside my studio so it's handy and easy). Dh makes my pot of tea before I get up but in the summer I make a gallon of sun tea every other morning. When I was working I tried to stick to the Fly Lady's guidelines but mostly now it's just the laundry pattern. Dh does all the dishes and cleans the counters but often now I clean them more after he goes to bed! I do put my clothes out for myself at night even if they have to be adjusted by changes in weather once in a while.

Decluttering here and there during the day makes the house look neat which is enough for me. We really don't get it dirty other than the kitchen. Plus a cleaner comes every other week for about half the house including his bathroom!

A fun routine is carryout pizza most Fridays unless I get a hankering for something else!

:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl I just read the title for this thread as - "Hobbits! Shake it Up a Bit" :compcoffee :compcoffee:rofl:rofl:rofl and wondered just what the heck @AnneofAlamo was up to now!!!!! :rollinoh dear! maybe I shouldn't have a second one??? :wine

As for habits, yes I do have a routine of sorts but I am not worried about breaking them :fairydance :) I find I do a lot things now when I want to! getting greedy in my old age! :pigout :hammock

There are some things that are habit for me, like checking in to TLP and my CT forums. But most of the time I'm just going with whatever needs to be done at the time.
