Grrr ... Parts of Text Disappearing

I'm working on a scrapbook page for the creative journaling challenge, using a template with space for TONS of journaling which follows the contours of several square or circular images down the center of the page. (A SwL Artsy Journal template :) I use PS CC.

Random bits of my journaling keep disappearing as I move in and out of the text boxes and zoom in and out. The text isn't really going away. It will reappear, and then other bits will disappear. It's like a white rectangle covering 2 or 3 lines of the journaling.

I'm guessing it's my computer struggling to keep up with this page I'm making. Even though I have lots of added memory and half empty internal drive and only PS and Safari running. I did restart my computer once but the problem soon returned.

Either I'm just complaining and taking a break from the frustration. Or is there something else I could try to make this problem go away?

Thanks for listening. :)

The last time my photoshop updated, I noticed after that when I opened a file done before the update, random bits of text were disappearing for me too. In my case, it was text that I had 'forced' a bold style on; if there isn't a bold option for it, the text will disappear. When I removed the bold, it shows up fine again - but makes me grrr just a little to have to use other ways to make it bold!

Thanks Danielle. I thought that might be it, that it was bold type, but when I returned to the layout to look, it's not bold. It's just Times New Roman Regular.

I'll continue muddling on!

Oh no, this is worse than I thought. I figured it was just a problem while working on the PSD but that it would save just fine. But it didn't! There are rectangles of my text missing even in a JPG version. :hissy

I'm going to go search through the layers panel and see if there's something hidden there.

Nothing hidden in the layers panel.

So I decided to try changing the font. Apparently PS or my computer doesn't like Times New Roman, despite it being a basic font. I remembered that when a template was made with a font I don't have PS uses Myriad Pro, so I switched to that. It seems to be working. No rectangles of text missing. Yet. But I have to adjust the size and edit my text now, and my family is eating dinner. So I'll have to take a break.

Mine did the same. Hopefully, you'll see this after your dinner break @michelepixels It wasn't a font problem, but something that happened on the update. Let me open PS, and I'll tell you how I fixed it!

Ok, open the Type tool. Then, open the paragraph/character flyout. You should see menu lines. Open the menu, and there's a "Reset Character" option. I don't know what was broken, or how, but it fixed it, and all my fonts worked again.

I've noticed this too- and agree with previous poster's when I added bold or italic- it would disappear. I'm eager to hear how courtney fixed it- as it is annoying sometimes when I WANT a bold or italic!

This happened to me quite often. The solution is to uncheck "faux bold". You can see it in the screenshot above. For some reason it turns itself on sometimes even though you are not typing in bold. This is a common photoshop problem and I hope they fix it in an update soon.
