Yesterday I ordered food through an app, but when I got to the restaurant to pick up my order they hadn’t received it! The cashier finally admitted that their system had glitched briefly, so I guess I had the magical timing of submitting the order during the glitch. Thankfully they were willing to take my order again and fill it while I waited, but it made me wonder how many people were affected.

So tell me, have you been affected by a glitch of some sort?

I'm not sure it was a glitch -- it might have been poor performance of the server -- but I placed an order through an app and went through a drive through and didn't know they'd given me the wrong order until I was parked a mile away. I went back and they replaced it with the correct order.

Yeah, a big one maybe 12 years ago at work. As part of my job I checked the company bank account every Friday to verify the payroll funds were electronically transferred from the payroll sweep account (it was funded automatically from the main bank account and no funds were kept in the account which made it easy to balance). One Friday there was no activity. The payroll clerk was also getting phone calls from employees asking where their direct deposit checks were. She had the information that said the transfer had gone through like normal on Wednesday. The bank never received it. She ended up on the phone with the consultants for our software and with the bank even talking with someone overseas at one point (don't remember why).

My job included accounts payable to I was also on the phone with the consultants about how we write close to 200 "paychecks" to replace those direct deposits that lost in thin air. Our normal payable system was to set up a vendor for every check written which was not a good thing in this case. That alone would have taken me about 2 hours and we had employees that left at 11:00 (start time was 2:30 a.m. for them). We got it figured out and the payroll clerk and I worked together to get the almost 200 paychecks printed so everyone could get paid that day before leaving work. The HR manager and the Controller were also put to work folding and stuffing envelopes after verifying that each printed check was the net on every person's paystub. We did get the early shift checks done in time and finally finished all checks around 1 p.m. so the ones that needed to get on transport trucks to other locations could make the truck. Oh, yeah, we started about 7:30 a.m. on this whole mess.

We never did find out why the transfer glitched and you can say the payroll clerk was paranoid about it for many weeks, going to far as to having the transfer checked by other people to make sure everything worked! That was one Friday that we never wanted to experience again!

I’m glad they replaced it with the correct order for you Michele.

Oh no! That sounds like the worst Friday ever! I’m glad you were able to sort it out in time for everyone to get their checks.

I had a 'glitch' 7 years ago. I had an appointment to get an IUD put in, but showed up and they had no record of it. I was mad (at the time) so delayed making another appt because I thought they were incompetent and just couldn't find the time to do it.

Along came baby #2 (a surprise!) 9 months later. lol! So it's a lifetime glitch, and so very happy it (she) happened, 8 years after our first.

That’s so weird they had no record of it! I’m glad you are happy about your lifetime glitch. :)

Wow! What a story. Happy blessing!

Glitches are why I don't do online ordering. Every time I order there's an issue, especially with Target. They only shop from the back room, so if what you want is on the floor and not in backstock, they'll remove it from the order. Drives me nuts.

This is good to know! I rarely order from Target so i guess I’m glad I don’t.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a glitch, but I don't like Starbucks. I relented to go through their drive through today. I ordered "ordinary sweet tea" - well, in true Starbuck's style, they had 15 options for "sweet". I finally said "liquid sugar cane". Well, my tea was anything but sweet - I always carry Sweet and Low with me because the restaurants don't think it's healthy (like thank you for caring about my health) - anyhoo I had to add 3 packs of that and it still wasn't like the regular sweet tea I get at, for instance, McDonald's.

My DD and GD laughed because I relented to go through Starbucks drive through and didn't get nearly what I wanted. Hey, when I want sugar, I want sugar - is that too difficult???

Oh no Cheryl! That would drive me crazy! I’m glad you know you carry your own sweetener even though it didn’t help enough this time.

Monica, I get SO tired of the restaurants telling me they don't have Sweet and Low. Now, they don't have the blue packets either. Just Splenda and I do not like that! True story - a worker in Burger King actually had the nerve to tell me that Sweet and Low was not good for me. I told her that I would decide what was good for me, not Burger King (ow any other fast-food restaurants) and I left w/o any coffee.

Pretty sure nothing at Burger King is good for anyone lol I still like their Whoppers, fries and chicken nuggets though.
