Glidden Gripper Primer?

Basically, I think. I use Zinsser BIN which is a combo primer sealer like I understand Glidden is. But I think the one you're talking about is latex based, which I've never used. But a good primer sealer before redoing a piece of furniture makes a huge difference, I can tell you that much!
 
When I re-did a dresser recently I used a Zinsser primer too and love how it turned out. It was water based too, so clean up was a snap. :)
 
Primer sealers cover up stains and stuff like that as well as providing a bit of a base for the paint. Works much better for repainting jobs. I got quite into this for a wee while - spent way too much time on the DIY blogs!
 
My husband works for Sherwin Williams, so I only shop there (for the discount :giggle). I usually just tell them what I'm painting, and they tell me what to use. Has worked well so far.
