Does anyone have one of these? It's a 21.5" all-in-one touchscreen desktop/tablet by Sony. It's the Sony Vaio Tap 20. I'm seriously considering getting one of these and using it instead of a laptop. It even comes with Photoshop Elements 12 installed, so it's been designed to by used with the touchscreen. I don't use Elements, but rather full Photoshop, but I think I could deal with the changes for being able to scrap on the couch or on the go with this. I'd love to hear if anyone has ever used a touch screen to scrap or just used one of these computers before! I've never owned a Sony anything.

It looks super cool!!

You'll do fine with Elements. I just (like 3 months ago) switched from Elements to full Photoshop, and although there are a few features I'm happy to have now that I didn't before, my scrapping hasn't improved at all. :D I scrapped with Elements for almost 6 years before upgrading to full Photoshop.

My laptop is a Win 8 touchscreen and I use Photoshop CS6 on it. So you could upgrade from the PSE and install any software you want. :)

So Peppermint, have you scrapped without mouse and keyboard and just used the touchscreen?

I have, but just to test it out. For the most part I rarely use my touchscreen because it makes the screen all smudgey and also its a little weird to maintain "touch and hold" for drag & drop on a touchscreen. But those tablet PCs still have a USB port and a Bluetooth stack so you can run a mouse with them. Also, no keyboard shortcuts on a tablet PC but again you can run a standalone USB keyboard. So then you're going beyond the tablet aspects and more toward laptop or desktop PC again. So, for scrapping it may be hard to get past those conveniences. But for general Web browsing and social media and all that, it's probably more portable?

I really think for the most part I would use it with a keyboard and mouse because I can't even stand the tiny touchpad on my current laptop to do anything in Photoshop. But I thought it would be a super cool extra to have a larger touch pad area, so I could maybe sit on the couch or in bed and scrap with out the mouse and keyboard. I'm just not sure exactly how that would work. No keyboard shortcuts might kill me. I don't even know if I know where some of the actual icons are in Photoshop! :)

I really just want to go to Best Buy and play with it to see how cumbersome it would be to operate without a keyboard and mouse. They even come preinstalled with the PSE 12, so maybe I could go in, plug in my EHD and scrap for awhile. Ha!

I actually use the touchpad on my MacBook Pro for everything. I hated that stupid magic mouse with a passion so I never used it. My husband just shakes his head at me but whatever, I'm used to it now. LOL

That is impressive! I can barely drag an element with my touchpad!

This. I tried to scrap with the touchpad on my laptop and failed miserably. Nasty words were said and my old mouse came back out!

I use nothing but the touchpad on my laptop either. I often scrap from my couch so it would be difficult to use a mouse.

I use the TouchPad primarily on my laptop because I don't hate that one like I have previous ones. But I don't use that laptop for scrapping. When I travel and have to do some work in Photoshop I always wind up dragging out my wireless mouse, because click, hold and drag on a TouchPad is just something I can't execute reliably for some reason. That's pretty. Before I bought my desktop I thought about an all in one with a touch screen and went with a traditional desktop/monitor instead. Have you gone to the store to play with it? I'd definitely do that.

I scrap on a laptop, on my couch, using a mouse ALL THE TIME. Because it's comfortable and I'm in the living room with the kids. I just put the mouse on the arm of the couch. I'm just advertising my laziness lol. I do have a desktop and I should fix it. Poor thing isn't running. I think I know what it needs but haven't gotten around to buying the part. I also game on the laptop and my thought process was "if it can handle online gaming it can handle PSE". I haven't had any issues with slowness using PSE but PS is laggy so I took it off and just kept it on the desktop.
