OK, so I'll admit it. My favorite part about Back to School is the Sports, LOL. I love watching my kids play, but it makes me a bit of a nervous wreck at times!

Today is GAME DAY for us! One of my sons is playing High School football for the 1st time and their 1st game is tonight. And he made the starting line-up! As a Freshman (the only freshman who did). I'm so proud, but a bit terrified. He's a big kid for 14, but he will be up against Seniors for heaven's sake *eek*

Anyway, to make it even more exciting, our school just built a brand new field! The 1st time EVER we will be playing a Home game on our school campus (we've been playing on the city fields)! It is so incredible and the whole school will be there (it's a K3-12 private school). It's even a 1/2 day of school today because of it. Priorities, people :giggle

So, it's that time of year again. Fall Sports... Football, Cross Country, Volleyball, Gymnastics... do you have an athlete? Are they in season now? How are you doing? hehe

I was a student athlete and although it's not for everyone for sure (pretty sure my DD will be an Arts-Only gal, which is cool too, of course), I do love cheering them on.

oh Jen that sounds like such an event ... for so many reasons and a really fun day! ENJOY!

we love game day here too! but my daughter is suffering from some knee injuries at the moment (more of a syndrome really: Patellaofemoral syndrome, not sure i spelled it correctly and too lazy to google at the moment) so it is bittersweet for us because she should be playing on the HS soccer team for the first time this year, instead she is "helping" as the MGR. :( they've had practices all summer and are gearing up for the first preseason game and an overnight trip and she can not play. :( so sad since she's been playing since she was 5 and soccer is her "thing".

my son is a rower and Crew season/training starts in the winter. but there are some fall things he can do bf the season gets going. SO ... it will be kind of boring around here for the fall weekends. i will be driving her to school and travel games/practices but won't get to see her play. :(

So fun!!! High school sports is so exciting! That's the one part I love about fall and back to school time! I work in a high school and a community that is all about their HS football team. There is so much school spirit this time of year and so many fun things going on! My son isn't doing any fall sports this year. Basketball is his favorite, so he's waiting for that, and then baseball, but I'm sure we'll take in a few HS games this year.

So sorry for her, Jenn. How disappointing. My oldest will play soccer this year, but it's a Spring sport around here in the schools. So we'll have fun the whole year :).

That is so exciting Jen! I'm sure you'll have lots of pictures to share after tonight! :)

My boys are both just starting soccer seasons again, but just practicing for the next couple weeks. Then we'll transition straight into Basketball for both of them too. I like watching them play of course, but it sure does get busy with all the games and practices!

I used to be in the high school band and our school was VERY serious about marching band. We won state competitions, so band camp was a big deal and was our practice for getting ready for football games and the halftime show. I loved doing that! Other than that my athletics was limited to track because running in a circle was the limit of my athletic ability. :giggle

No school sports here (yet). BUT... the Seahawks are playing a pre-season game tonight... so... :giggle

Sarita played football in primary (along with her outside school performing arts school) I never understood the football thing (and I am Brazilian...I am supposed to like it LOL) so I was glad when she lost interest, but I love going to the dance performances, from when she was little to now the musicals ...well, now she is in a bit of a limbo but...well, anyway, hope Arabella does get to develop into some performing arts!!!! maybe one day the can even be on stage together!!!!!!!! then I ll have a visa for the USA, then I ll go and MEET YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:beat:beat

Jenn I had the same thing with my knee when I was younger, my sport was baseball. Hope they find a solution and she gets it taken care of and back in the soccer field. For me it was a scope and the doctor said he said he sucked a bunch of junk out, lol.

How exciting!!!!

I am in some ways cheering that I don't have hockey fees and travel fees to pay for any longer but at the same time know I will miss my time spent in all those arenas over the years. Same with baseball, he played his last home game last Friday and we have provincials next weekend, then that's it.

He may play drop-in or interlock hockey at college.

My DD is participating in her first sport: cheerleading at the YMCA. They cheer at the Y's flag football games Saturday mornings.

She's only had two practices so far (and they had to combine the littler girls with the big ones so it's a little chaotic) and is not terribly coordinated or remembering the moves, but she has a lot of enthusiasm! Seeing all the girls at the game this past Saturday was a RIOT. :giggle My daughter is in the front row & third from the left.
