has anyone had a plantar wart before? if so, what treatment path did you go down and how successful was it? there's apparently various creams and freezing stuff but no guarantees with anything so i'd appreciate any stories or experiences you want to share. many thanks!

I had one that had to be removed yrs ago and then a few yrs ago got another one but 2-3 over-the-counter wart removals didn’t get it all out. It was bothersome if I stepped on something that poked it otherwise it wasn’t too painful so I kept forgetting to book an appt to get it removed. Then it cleared up on its own.

I had one a LONG time ago on my heel... like maybe high school during track season that was really bugging me. I think I went to the doctor and they cut most of it out and then I applied a wart remover 2-3 times a day and that took care of it.

I got one after my heel got cut during a pedicure. I went to a podiatrist for two separate courses of treatment (cutting and freezing) only to have it come back a third time. I was thinking about going again, but during covid I took a bunch of immune boosting stuff and now it's gone. Could just be a coincidence, but I'll take it!

My daughter had one on the bottom of her foot & it was getting to the point where it was bugging her- so we made a Dr. Appointment. Sure enough- it sort of fell off & healed itself just before her appointment! So really I have no advice whatsoever! :giggle

One of my teenagers had one a couple of years ago. First we tried over the counter stuff, which did nothing. Then the pediatrician tried the method of freezing it and removing it gradually. After a few sessions, we could tell that its growth had slowed but it was still growing. Next step was a podiatrist. He said that although we could try other things, he felt we'd eventually have to go the surgical removal path. On his recommendation we went straight to that. It ended up being relatively quick and painless. (Although the freezing treatment at the pediatrician hadn't stopped the wart from growing, it did result in a more surface-level wart which made removal easier.) The podiatrist did it in his office, and my son was back at school the next day (with some activity limitations for a week, maybe 2). This is a child who doesn't handle pain or discomfort well, and he never complained. He was careful for longer than he needed to be because he was worried it would start hurting, but the anticipation was worse than the reality.
