Steak would be good too. I could probably do that, but seriously...
Cynthia, I don't know exactly what you are trying to change, but after I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last year I did a bunch of research, a lot of trial and error, and really changed my diet. Pain and immobility are great motivators.
I do not do dairy - I switched to almond milk (I also do not do soy and hate the taste anyway...) I find I can eat some organic cheeses but I'm careful with that. I take a liquid calcium and vitamin D suppliment I add to the almond milk with frozen unsweetened fruits to make a great smoothie.
I gave up wheat products. It's not a gluten thing - it's a wheat thing. There are lots of pastas out there now made from quinoa, lentils, etc. they are really good, better tasting than Durham wheat... Cook just a bit less to stay el dente.
I found some great crackers made from white and black beans which are great bread substitutes, and Pinterest is full of recipes for goodies made with alternative flours, if you have a sweet tooth.
I also do not use anything but natural sweetness like honey and maple syrup.
I'm symptom free for a few months now. I take no pain medication, and my Dr is now drastically reducing the heavy duty stuff I take to control the disease.
