I have struggled with PL this year. I completed the pages but it felt like such a chore. I have to come to realize that if I draw a sketch and fill in the blanks as the week goes on (just a couple of minutes each night) I actually am starting to love this project!! Sometimes a lot happens in a week even when you have no photos, theres stuff to write about. Now at the end of the week i put the layout together (digitally), add the journaling and then have fun (finally) adding all the little bits to it! Yay me!:woot

I think PL is all about finding the right work flow for you. Your work flow sounds awesome and something I may give a try. I always plan mine out on paper first anyway, so this would just break it down easier for me. Thanks for posting this Heather!

So glad you found a groove Heather! I really like your ideas, I may have to try that. I'm still struggling a bit with it feeling like a "chore" - I love the end result but it takes me forever to lay it all out in PSE! I've been doing daily journaling using OhLife, but I still have to pull it all in to PSE with my photos and products, and like I said, it takes quite a while.

I think having the sketch out and jotting notes down each night is great way to do it!! and yay for enjoying it!

I use oh life too but the putting it all together at the end of the week was so hard, especially non photo heavy weeks! The sketching really helped!!

Heather, are you doing digi or paper or hybrid Project Life... Just out of curiosity? I am always trying to find things that work. ;)

That's similar to what I do, Heather. I keep a notebook where I jot stuff down, and at the end of the week/first of the next week, I look at all my photos for hte week and pick out my page protecter styles. I have designs A-F,and I saved them as .psd files, so I open the ones I'm using and clip the photos onto the spots. On the spots where I want ot use a journaling card, I type the idea over that spot. (i.e. Jack didn't get his name on the board or "filler card")

This way I can work on it whenever I have time without any pressure. It's why I don't have weeks 24-31 done, I'm not worried about it because they're all planned out; I just have to put it together.

And Trista, I realize you ddin't ask me, lol, but I'm doing mine in PSE and printing the cards out and putting them in the PL page protectors. It works really well for me.

I really need to try the sketching! I find it is a chore as well and therefore am about 20 weeks behind! Thank you for this tip!

funny how something so simple made all the difference for me, hope it helps you girls as well! I have all those divided 4x6 templates and never used them cause i couldn't figure out placement, now i draw them on the sketch and pick the photos to go in them! Now picking out all the little buttons and stuff is actually fun!!

Glad you found a good work flow finally! I love when a project finally clicks like that!

Kellie, I would love to print at home, but don't have a printer that prints to my standards. LOL!
I am doing my PL in a hybrid fashion. Since we have all sorts of things that we acquire on a daily basis, I wanted the real protectors in a binder so that I could add those things. For my all digi pages, when I have them printed they will go in full sized page protectors.

Oh also forgot to mention this earlier. A few months ago I started using the voice memo on my phone and leaving myself random tidbits... They are emailed to me so it has been really cool to kind of revisit them after several months have passed. The other day I was searching for different voice memo apps and ran across and app that turns my voice into text. The app is called Dragon Dictation and I think it was free - or just a few bucks. I love it. I can just talk and it turns my voice into text. The best part is that it emails the text to me and I can copy and paste it for journaling my PL stuff. I will admit that with my southern drawl sometimes it doesn't get everything right, but let me tell you the amount of time I have saved typing all of the journaling has been a real treat.

Ooh I have loved reading through here! I'm hoping to start Project Life in 2013, and want to have my plans kind of set so I get off on the right foot. I think I'll be doing some form of hybrid, I found that I enjoy and miss doing a bit of paper scrapping, but not the full-on 12x12 stuff! I've done some mini albums this year and loved it. Great idea to sketch and plan first, Heather!!
