Few photos

I have a bit of a problem that few other scrapbookers seem to have: I don't have enough photos. I'm about to start begging friends for theirs. Not ideal however, since you can't really journal other peoples thoughts, feelings and experiences. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like it's time for you to take up project 365... where you take a photo each day to capture the little moments of life that might otherwise go unnoticed.

I use to feel like I had to have a photo in every layout, but I've seen so many awesome pages that record the thought, story or emotion without a picture. If I think of my scrapbooking as more of a journaling thing, than making a no-photo layout isn't hard at all. Think about things you want to say in your life and make that the focus of the page.

I agree with Claire. It was hard for me to do no photos on a layout, but as I am going more into making each page have meaning, instead of just something pretty to look at, I am realizing I don't have a photo for every story, and that is ok.

ditto. you totally don't have to put a photo on a page to make it a scrap page. sometimes so great journaling is all you need. i'll try to come back soon with some examples. :)

Ok, i just went to go visit Eryn's gallery. She has always amazed me with her photoless pages:

i totally agree with everyone so far.

i think that documenting your life through every-day kind of photos (like a project 365 approach) is a great way to help tell your story. but you can certainly scrap a TON of stuff that matters in life with no photos at all.

even if you have missed the 1st few weeks, you should REALLY consider joining us in our P365 (or some people are doing a P 52 or some other version). even if you don't get a photo of EVERY day, you will still have an incredible visual documentation of your every-day life when you're done! give it a try!! (see here for some inspiration)

Gosh, thank you! Great ideas and feedback. I have given this a lot of thought. (Especially over the past couple days while I've been organizing and inventorying my digi stuff. I should have done this 100 gigs ago!) I don't mind doing layouts without photos. The ones you shared in this thread are amazing! There are lots of stories to be told if I just stop and think about it. I have one of them percolating in the back of my brain while I type.

The other thing is that I need to be more mindful of photo ops. I'm not doing Project 365 as a photo a day, but I am doing it as 7 photos a week. Today I took several pictures and I'm sure more than one will go on my layout. I'm trying to at least keep my little point and shoot with me all the time. That's how I catch good pictures of my dog. :) I'm fine at home, but most places when I'm out I feel uncomfortable whipping out my camera and snapping pics. I know a lot of people use their cell phone cameras to be less conspicuous, but I don't have one. (Yeah, there's a layout coming about that.) I guess I need to get over my self-consciousness and live my life so I can scrap it. :)

Photoless pages are some of my most favorite ever!! and just take photos of anything and everything that has a story or an emotion behind it. and I confess that I have totally reused photos before if i had a new thought to share but not a new photo. I agree with what you said though that you need to live your life so you can scrap it...don't scrap to live. :) We all have feelings and stories to tell just by being here so just put that into a page and add a photo later or not one at all. :) Keep a notebook or journal handy to jot things down...like songs and lyrics that move you..etc :D

Several times I've had stories to tell and no photos to go with those stories. So, I've improvised and just not used a photo. This can be really liberating. It's better to tell the story without a photo, than to not tell the story at all.

I have been scrapping with out photos a lot lately! I just don't seem to always have the photos to convey what I wish to say!
