I am going to a Freezer shower this weekend and I need to make something yummy for a family who just welcomed their second child. Do you have any favorite recipes that can be frozen? Please link me up! Thanks :)

I have never done a freezer meal, but this intrigues me! I'll be watching this thread.

Lasagna is always a good one for freezing.

Classic "hotdishes" work great for freezing, too. I can't eat them anymore but if you'd like me to dig out a few of my mom's recipes, I sure can!

It's probably too late, but we love freezing individual servings of chili after I make a big batch. It's easy to pull out for lunch or to pair with rice or a baked potato during a busy week.

I make 4 of every casserole! 2 for dinner, 2 for freezer! Enchiladas (red and green). Always freeze chili! Soups and stews are another great one, add a package of frozen rolls and it is a great meal.
Shepherd's Pie is a great one too!
I love this idea for meals too! Perfect!

I always make spaghetti bolognaise, cottage pies, lasagna, casseroles, stews, curties, chillis im presuming you can freeze mac and cheese anything really

Posting too late to be of any help for last wkend...but a dish I always bulk cook and freeze is chili.

Thanks for all the advice! Most of the ladies who were attending brought chili and pasta dishes, so I ended up doing a Shepherd's Pie. Next time I am going to try enchiladas!

You are all making me hungry!

i always hate having to take dishes to people... not that i mind giving them food, but i feel like everyone always has the same 3 ideas - lasagna, chili, and enchiladas. if you aren't one of the first 3, you have to get super creative, which i am not. *lol*

for freezer meals, I always look to the freezer section of the grocery store for inspiration - stuffed peppers, pasta alfredo bake, panko crusted chicken breasts (coat raw chicken breasts and freeze, then they're ready to pop in the oven and bake as is... my kids LOVE them). i have also been known many a time to pre-assemble homemade pizzas (usually using store-bought crusts, like bobolis), and them freeze the pizzas. that way they're like a frozen pizza you would buy at the store, and all you have to do is pop them in the oven.

i know i'm way too late for your party, but thought i'd share my ideas anyway.

I am a huge lover of bringing meals...and we do them hot...and I like to switch things up and bring chili with rice or mash potatoes...
Do it different ya know?
Hamburger sliders, little hamburgers on smaller rolls with a bit of cheese (like take a slice and divide in 4) and three pickle slices. (my girls say 3 is the key) They can sit in a warm oven for hours wrapped in foil and they just taste better and as my 5 year old says betterer

Shredded pork is always good and you can send with tortillas, cheese and fixins or rolls and some cole slaw.

Fried chicken, mash pots and vegi is another

I so love to be the one to bring that meal and get to hold a new baby! lol I have hit that age now, the babies are from kids I held 20 years ago...very very special!

anne, those are some great ideas! i always get stumped with what to bring. it's not that i don't want to be helpful, i just don't want to deliver their 4th helping of lasagna for the week, kwim? i'll have to remember the pulled pork and the slider ideas!! love those!!

definitely love the pulled pork idea.

Well, this is also too l ate, but I saw this idea recently and thought it was fantastic. Make chocolate chip cookie dough as normal, but then roll it in balls and freeze it. Label the container and take the container full of frozen cookie dough to the family - they can just pull out as many as they want to bake.

My hubby and I don't go out to eat often. We feel it's just so much healthier eating at home, but who feels like cooking everyday? So we always cook double and freeze. This week turkeys are on sale. We bought 3. 2 for now to cook, stuff, and freeze. I even freeze the strained broth for soups. 1 I take cooked for my MIL's on Thanksgiving. When freezing I try not to over cook food, but I find I can freeze just about anything.
