Favorite Children's Christmas Books

We are doing the 25 days of Christmas books this year and I have 14...so I need some ideas :)

What are your favorite (easy to read) children's books? Could be winter or Christmas related.....

This book is a tradition at our house every year. Our kiddos love it! It's the story of a little boy who gets lost in the forest in a storm. He finds the house of an older lady, and while he warms up, she tells him the story of Christmas.

I have a few favorites (I'm sure a lot of them are already on your list though),
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The Polar Express
Olive, the other Reindeer
The Mitten

I'll have to think on it for more...I used to work in a Children's library so I have to dredge up my memories on the subject..lol.

On Christmas Eve since I was a child, we've had a no electricity rule (except for Christmas lights and bathroom trips...) and we read Christmas stories and sing songs. I have SO many favorite Christmas books, but my all time GREATEST are these:

Christmas Day In The Morning

Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree

This one is fantastic for littlies. So much fun!

Oh thanks so much for these suggestions. I could use some christmas book help!
Our faves are Polar Express and The Night Before Christmas!

I just finished wrapping mine, but since it's the first time we've done it, I had to sneak in some movies...no access to a library with english christmas books...

on my list were
  • gingerbread baby & gingerbread friends (we already had those)
  • the three snowbears (also had)
  • olive the other reindeer (had)

I added
  • the legend of the poinsettia
  • snowmen at christmas
  • merry christmas splat
  • cordouroy's christmas
  • the grinch
  • charlie brown christmas (book & movie, I'm nice)
  • a winnie the pooh holiday book
  • my mom sent me a few that I don't know
  • my kids love the froggy rides a bike book, so i got froggy's christmas
  • also have two mr. men christmas books in there
  • one book is an activity book: how to draw christmas things
  • the night before christmas, read by my mother for christmas eve
  • oh, and a christmas puzzle for the 23rd sneaked it's way in - ha ha!
  • the 21st & 22nd is the glass mermaid (my fave christmas book as a kid)

and that's all I'm remembering off the top of my head. I basically just put 'christmas' in at the book depository and went crazy...
wish I could somehow book mark this thread for next year, I'd like to update books each year, and add to so that we eventually have enough to truly do a book for EVERY day. :)

wrapped them in brown paper today (until I ran out) and then used those old heidi swapp foam stamps. seriously got hybrid today, even broke out the quickcutz that I had NEVER used...! This is why I just can't get rid of the paper stuff!

We don't have ours out yet, so I'm trying to recall from memory:

Llama Llama Christmas Drama
Veggie Tales: St. Nicholas
Gingerbread Baby
Merry Christmas, Curious George
Room for a Little One: A Christmas Tale
Bear Stays Up for Christmas
Bear's First Christmas
The Little Fir Tree
a Max 'n' Ruby Christmas book

I ordered a bunch after Christmas last year and almost immediately stored them, so I will have to come back later this week to add to this list. :)

My favorite Christmas book is The Littlest Angel, but it's not something you can read to little kids. Too many words. :)

Oooh yay!! We did this for the first time last year and it was a wonderful addition to our traditions. I was thinking of updating a few this year.

Here's what we have from last year. It's kind of a hodge podge of classics and newer, faith-centric and fun and wintery:

I also had a personalized book made from I See Me! which was a HUGE hit. Bugga's elf "Rachel" sent it to her.

We looove this tradition!

These others are fantastic as well. They totally encompass the meaning of Christmas :)

This one is a true story that happened to my Uncle's family. He wasn't born yet, but they retold this story every year at Christmas and always said that he felt like he was there. A neighbor of mine is from one of the families in Idaho who helped raise money and made the quilts for my Uncle's family in Canada as well. Such a powerful and inspiring story. (and it's only 1.99 on the Kindle! :) )

This is a great thread! I still have to get ours out, and I will see if there are any I can add to the list. I think I see a few on here I want to get for this year too.

These are great! Thank you!!! Thank you! These will round out our collection quite nicely.

For those of you with little ones Pete The Cat has a new Christmas book out, I picked that up the other day (my little 2 looove Pete).
