So I will not be seeing the ocean again this year or making it to Disney. :(

My SIL just announced her plans to get married in Florida next year so we will be making the trip then.

Instead the family is heading west to Glacier National Park!! We're in Minnesota so we'll be driving through North Dakota and into Montana. If anyone has been and has ideas of things to do or places to stay please let me know. We're definitely doing the Going to the Sun road tour. Possibly horseback riding or white water rafting. One of my girls is not super excited about all the outdoorsy stuff, and definitely does not want to camp, but I think once we get there and she sees how beautiful it is she will enjoy herself.

Roadtrippin' with the family...should be interesting!!

I have never been ... but this is where my parents are headed come September ... they are going to see a bunch of sites out west. Sounds like a fun change of plans! The ocean will still be there next year ... and a wedding ... how fun!

From what I hear Glacier will be worth missing the ocean for. We are less than a couple hundred miles away and I haven't been able to convince dh to go. So I'm no help. Have fun!

Don't get me wrong...I'm super excited for Glacier. I just hope my girls appreciate the beauty of it as much as my husband and I will. My oldest is excited (she's been to Disney three times with her besties from HS) but the middle and youngest have never been to Disney and the youngest has never seen the ocean so they were looking forward to that. I keep telling them next year... :)

Cool! I'm going to have to look that up. Montana isn't too far away.

Sorry about the beach and Disney. I would be disappointed too, but maybe they can make a cool countdown to next year thing?

That sounds awesome! As a kid we drove from FL to MN and then out west through the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming... I remember going to Devil's Tower and Mount Rushmore...that might be too far south for you.

It is really beautiful. My hubby and I went many years ago. There are some great guides online. We did the Going to the Sun road, and it was crazy at the time because there was construction and we'd get stopped for long periods in the sun (we didn't prepare well with taking drinks). We were up super high on this little tiny narrow road. Yikes. But it was cool.

Lake McDonald was gorgeous and definitely worth spending time there. We saw a lot of different places, although I don't remember exactly where we went by name. We drove a lot of the less-traveled roads and took a ton of pictures.

You will have a blast!!!

If Glacier were closer, I'd get in the car! (but without camping unless they are cabins...lol)

It is definitely worth a trip! You don't have to camp. They have lodges and there are plenty of hotels outside of the park that are convenient.

Glacier is beautiful. You will really enjoy the rugged beauty. Just keep in mind when the animals approach your car, they are wild not tame.

Do not get eaten by grizzlies! When I saw that story I immediately thought of you. It's so freakish I know you'll be safe!
