Extra page suggestions

I need a little advice! Last week was a big week for us - we had a lot going on and I took a lot of photos. I hate to leave anything out. I'd like to do an extra page but I'm not sure the best way to make that flow with the rest of my PL pages. Having an extra page will screw up the whole book. ;) Any ideas on how to work in an extra page? Should I try for 2 maybe, to keep it even?

:dizzy

When I have lots of photos I end up doing an extra two page spread. Never one because then like you said, it would screw up the whole book. I may have more filler cards but at least the two extra pages go together.

For me it depends. Last year, for my son's birthday I did an extra two page spread. The blizzard I did one page, but put it at the end. I wasn't worried about it being in order, it was more just a reference of how high the snow got, as opposed to us playing in it.

When I was working weekly I'd always try to make a week an even number - or could you squish up the following week into a single page. Sometimes it's easier to be working a couple of weeks behind so I know what I've got coming, but I do prefer to be caught up. This sort of thing is why I've switched to a more free-flowing approach, too much thinking for me otherwise!

I would do two pages, too, to make it even.
But: I NEVER do that. If I have too many pictures of an event, I make separate layouts which go in my "normal" scrapbooking album, but not in the PL one. Here, I slavishly stick to my weekly two-page spread, no matter how hard choosing the photos gets. But that's just me...

Tali, I've run into this SOOOO many times. Sometimes I can stretch it to 2 pages, but sometimes I can't. In those instances, I've put in a simple quote page or something, and it's worked great!! I really like the way it looks in the finished book, and it's a nice break in the action for the eyes.

These are some of the pgs in my 2013 book...

What about doing a 6x12 insert with pictures on both sides?

or you could do something like this and make one page a big focal photo, and put the rest on the other page

That's what I was going to say! I'd stick to two pages so the rest of the book flows properly (in my mind at least!) and then either use lots of fillers or a big old photo to fill up those two pages if there aren't enough pics.

Love these ideas! Especially Rebecca's quote filler page! I ran into two odd weeks last year and filled them in with larger photos and fillers.

I'm not sure what you mean by 6x12 pages? I'm doing PL digitally with 12x12 pages - how would I do the 6x12s with that?

I like the quote page idea, or large photo idea. The kit I'm using for this week has a really great striped paper, I may use that for a background on one page and do the quote thing.

Thanks ladies! This was really throwing my brain for a loop. ;)

But now I'm wondering - you have to plan and make sure that one page of your next week's spread will only be a 6x12 as well, correct? I love the idea but not sure if I can plan ahead well enough to figure on the 6x12 spreads each week.

Going to have to think about it!

I did mine and just did the 6x12 between the two main pages.

So here is my left main page (the white) and the plaid insert for the right side of the insert:

And then the left side of the mini insert (plaid) and the main right page (the white).

The insert goes between your weekly spread to keep it all contained.

Basically this gives you a three page spread total, but the third page is a half sheet front and back.

Ahhhh, that makes sense.

I'm going to have to look first and see where I can get the 6x12 inserts near me. I'm doing a 3-ring album and printing from Persnickety. I could do both 6x12s on one page just cut it in half when I get it.

Thanks!

Just bought all my supplies off Amazon. :) American Crafts album, 12x12 protectors and a pack of 6x12 protectors.

So excited!

WHAT THE WHAT?!?!?!?

*mind blown*

Why have I never thought abt cutting the finished/printed pages to make a lookalike insert?!

THAT BLOG ENTRY HAS TOTALLY CHANGED MY PL LIFE!

Here's my first insert! I made a very thin line where I'll cut when I get the page:
