What do you do to get/stay in shape?

I am NOT a runner, don't have a gym membership nor do I own a bike at this moment.

I am currently doing the 30 Day Shred and like it but know I will get tired of it eventually. For those of you that exercise at home, what do you do?

Oh....and I am having foot surgery in 4 weeks and will be in a cast/boot for 6 weeks and need to find things that I can still do......

other than my gym stuff.. I do a lot of yoga at home. Or try. LOL

I run and do yoga, and in the summer swim. Having your foot in a cast kind of limits your options.. maybe some kind of strength training since you won't be able to do cardio?

tough question.

I do own a bike, and I'm going to get my butt on it today. I LOVE to go walking, but I am one that needs a partner to walk with.

I am the heaviest I've ever been in my whole life, and I'm just sick about it. I feel awful, I have no strength anymore, so I'm going to join a gym. I'm not joining a big gym or the closest gym to me, but I'm going to one that is smaller but has more personalized trainers. I have to...I can't live like this anymore!

I've had several foot surgeries. I'll be thinking of you. I could do NOTHING when I had my bunion surgery, and even after I was allowed to be back on it, it took months and lots of physical therapy before I could really do anything. I had to keep it elevated all the time.

I have a friend that does a video/internet program. She has something daily for you with videos. She's in her mid 50's and has an AMAZING body. My 24 year old friend is doing it...she's a volleyball coach and is in good condition, but she said this really works her good. It requires almost nothing...(well, money obviously), an internet connection, and a few items (a mat, maybe a few weights). If you're interested, I'll get her link so you can at least look at it. I've considered it...and since I hate going out of the house to work out, it may be something I end up doing.

Here's an article about her...and it's like what Jenny mentioned, strength training.

it won't let me link directly to that article, but if you scroll down just a tiny bit and on the right hand side is a photo and it talks about Karen Butler. Just click there!

I run. I also take spin class from time to time. Swim once in a while. Bike when it's nice out. Yoga. Whatever. I love it all. LOL

I am a power walker up steep inclines here in my town...I try to do 3 miles a day!! My dog and hubs come with me, we hit this one hill and let the dogs off, and don't talk cause it is straight up!! The way down I am so so happy! I go by myself too, but with books on tape (or uhm mp3?) lol, or I get a podcast to listen to also. I have been known to listen to that Digi Show while walking!

I run and I'm trying to do some gym at home. I did the 30 Day Shred last year (5 days a week). I have other dvds of Jillian Michaels and I found some programs that alternate these during the week and I think that this is the best thing to do with these videos.

I do DVDs at home... the 30 day shred being one of my go to's because it's only 20 mins and I can fit that in. But, I'm getting bored with that one. I also walk on the treadmill when I'm being really lazy but still want to do something. From one of the other thread I'm considering the Zumba for the Wii....

I just joined Curves this week and am loving it! Before that, I was very inconsistent and was lucky to do a random exercise video a week. I do love my Firm videos, but I didn't do them often because i had to lug out the transfirmer thing every time.

I bought an exercise ball and hand weights from WalMart and really enjoy doing tons of stuff with those. And I can do that with kids in the house. And I walk, when I can get out of the house alone, LOL.

If you get some exercise bands (cheap) you can get a pretty good strength workout at home. You control the resistance and you can get those things pretty resistant.

I also have the Chalean Extreme videos. They are tough, though. I haven't done them for a while. I also have Zumba on DVD but it's still in the plastic 4 years later. Oops. LOL
