Excited!!

I love this group. Thanks for being so excited for me and my family and for sharing your advice and experiences. I'm still super giddy!! :)

And to @HollyGenc - your Disney pages in the gallery are amazing. Can't wait to make mine!! :) I'm already stalking Sahlin Studio's site for "must have" kits. Some I already bought with the intention of someday taking the trip!! :D

Girls!! I am 45 years old and I think I am finally going to Disney World!!

My girls are 21, 19 and 16. We have never been on a real family vacation. We've rented cabins, we've gone camping. My girls played AAU basketball in the summers so family "vacations" were wherever their tournaments were.

I have been bugging my husband that we need to do a family vacation before it's too late and the girls are out of the house for good. He wanted to go to Glacier National Park...thinking it would be a cheaper vacation. It's not. I started looking into Disney for the heck of it and it's looking like we might make be going!!

So question for those of you who have been... We're thinking 2-3 days at the parks and the rest of the time we'd like to stay near the ocean. Any beach/resort/rental advice for the ocean stays?

I AM SO EXCITED!! 45 years old and I have never seen the ocean!!
Awesome!! Have a fantastic time! Enjoy!!

@rchansen PS Cocoa Beach is 45-60 minutes to the east straight on the 528 (beeline toll road) from I4... The Space Center is there too in Titusville as well.. The Beach is perfect and easy to get to ... My Dad lived in Merritt Island next to Cocoa Beach and we would Drive to Disney for the day and go back home. So if you want to go to the beach that is what I suggest :)

Oh gosh, that is so awesome!!! You are going to luv it and the ocean! You won't want to return home! :-)

How wonderful! You are in for a real treat! Get ready to take lots and lots of photos!

Can I stay with you? LOL!!!! and you be my tour guide.

Unfortunately I now live in Michigan and am 76 years young, so don't think I will be seeing Disney anytime soon. I honestly think I could go through Disney and Epcot blindfolded!!! Two wonderful places to visit!!! The first time I visited Disney, the tickets were $18 each. Does that tell you anything????

I highly recommend that you find a no fee Disney vacation planner. I know of a great one if you are interested ~ just shoot me a PM. She will help you get the best possible prices, and knows all the ins and outs and secrets that you would want to know. She has been many times to WDW as a child, but as an adult with her own children has been 20 times in the past 14 years.

Like others said, it's hot here in Florida, so do consider that when planning. Rates vary depending on when you go. Our trip before the one we took last fall was in 2012 and we went for the 4th of July. It was hot. But we did great because we utilized Magic After Hours (for resort guests) and were able to enjoy the parks in the late afternoon, evening and night and then slept in very late every day.

You are going to have so much fun. It's hard for me to think you haven't seen the ocean! I've always lived on the Gulf of Mexico, and it's something I have just known. Now mountains . . . I admit I got a little starstruck by those since we don't have them here.

I am so excited for you and I so hope that you get your Disney trip!! You will love it!!
I always dreamed of going to Disney, but never thought I actually would unless they built one in Australia (I mean, come on guys!) but Hubby was asked to be best man by his best friend who lives in Florida. They said that if we could get the plane tickets over, they would have us at their house and shout us Disney World... OMG. I nearly fell off my chair! It wasn't a perfect visit to DW, the parade and fireworks got rained out, and then it was so hot the next day, but you know what. It's DISNEY WORLD so who cares!! Haha!!
As for the rest of a vacation, our friends took us to Clearwater Beach and the Pier with all the people selling their handcrafts and the street performers (and Hooters, because why not), we went to Walmart a bunch of times (but that was like a theme park for us too, lol), MOSI, Glazer Children's Museum, Adventure Island, and then just a lot of things that people from the US would find normal (Michael's) or boring (doing laundry at a laundromat) or even bad (many MANY different take out places).
It was so awesome, and we can't wait to go back to Florida and Disney. Our daughter wants to go back to DW for her 10th birthday, so that's only three years away, better get saving! Lol!

Have tons of fun. We haven't been for years, but I know it's great! So much to see and do. We bought tickets to universal studios too and did two days there and 4 at Disney.
