My teenager texted me a link to this TED talk this morning. She said, "drop whatever you are doing and listen to this" so I am going to tell you the same thing. I think it will speak to every single one of you as memory keepers.

I downloaded the app the other day, but haven't gotten to play with it yet. My daughter just did a heritage/immigration story project for school. It made us realize how the family tree is easily traced, but the stories are getting harder to come by. It made me want to get more stories recorded.

You are SO right about how the stories are getting lost.

My daughter is all fired up to use the app with her great grandparents. Totally made me cry.

That's great that she's so fired up about this! I wish I would have done this with my grandparents. I used to sit and listen to their stories, but never wrote them down.

I'm actually thinking about trying this personal genealogy/history project for next year. That is if I can get everyone on board.

this had me crying at some points.....

in the bigger picture, this is what made me start scrapping...I wanted Sarita to know her father had not always been the person who was absent from her life, that her start in life was a great one and she was loved and sought for...... I know the voice is one big impact, but I think if one looks in these pages, here, in the galleries for example, there are some awesome stories...
I have learned to know better some people here through their pages visually...but when I find some journals I "get" more what the person is all about- and we have some hugely inspiring people-

Also, again moved into the concept of the scrapbooking...that is why is important that you - the scrapper- makes an appearance both in photos and in words in your pages/books- so the story is there for the generations to come....

I think this app will make me finally pay attention to the iPad, so I will get my instagram going and see if I can do some of these voice interviews....

Beautifully said, Cynthia! I think the intimacy of sharing those stories on the page in the gallery is why many of us make such close friends in this hobby. You really do get to know the true person behind the layouts.

To answer your question about my daughter, Elizabeth is 16. I loved that this TED talk connected with her. It gives me a warm fuzzy to think the heart of a memory keeper lives inside her too!
 
...moving, very moving. I think every life matters because God made each one of us.
 
Going to watch now but thought I'd say that that is so great when younger generations want to hear stories of ancestors etc!
 
I cried a bit too, Cynthia. What a wonderful TED talk! I am ready to download the app and start planning a few interviews. The end really moved me when he spoke of the interview with his father. I would love to interview my parents and my grandmother before they are no longer here to tell their stories.

It really makes you appreciate the technology we have today. Digital scrapbooking & the LilyPad have given me the tools, inspiration and time to document our current stories. I hope my pages/books will be around for many generations to experience. That's my goal anyway!!

I saw we have zinzellina now (Olga/zinzilah's daughter!!!) so maybe we get a Mini Laura soon?
I have to thank Krista Sahlin as after the Mouse Project Sarita is considering scrapping!!!!

and yes, I think I have made intense friendships with other scrappers, and some of you are to me real family.... I talk about things that worry me or make me happy and I feel I am able to share certain things other friends of mine don't quiet "get"

well, I am already loving your gallery and I am so glad you feel at home with us.... I havent had much time in these past few days, but will get back to your gallery in a bit :) I'm really loving having you with us!!!!!!!
