I've been working on a page from our Disney trip that I just can't get right… I keep tweaking and tweaking and I just don't like it. Ack!!:cry

Ever happen to you? What do you do?

Usually I share it with one of my scrapping friends and say, "what does this need?!" They can almost always get me going in the right direction again. Post it here! We will help :)

have a kid come over and talk about the fun they had, get their perspective on the adventure...and remind yourself why you scrap....so they remember

Ok, Laura, here it is. It is the left side of a 2 page spread. I'm happy with the right. But something about this one isn't working. Struggling with that whole title area…

suggestions?

yes, this happens. i usually just dump it and start over!!! :D

oh my goodness: super cute layout!! those photos are just too adorable for words. love the "look at that face" photo. what a great shot!! haha. what about doing some kind of small, light cluster to the left of the title (near the bottom right corner of the big rectangle/title area) to balance the weight of the photo on the right? or just popping in a little element that is a bit larger in scale and weight than the sequins?

What cute photos! How about changing the paper to something with a little blue, like white with little blue stars?

LOVE the photos & template Ashley! What about a rectangle or half circle tab piece tucked in the upper right of the large rectangle/title area- just peaking out with maybe the date or something typed on it? Can't wait to see what you do!

Darling photos, Ashley! I think you have a great start here. For me, I have to agree with Sandy...it's mostly the striped paper that isn't working. I also agree with Jen that a cluster help balance things.

Thanks, all! I appreciate the suggestions. Yes, I went back and forth on that striped paper. (There is more of that pink on the right side spread, but just too jarring here, maybe) Can't wait to rework and see what happens. I'll try to remember to post here. :)

For a left hand page I would actually put the title over the middle and right blocks, not middle and left. What about a white text box over the striped paper set to a lowered opacity for a vellum effect? that way you get the effect of the stripe but more subtle. I'd leave an edge of the striped paper for a frame effect.

does that even make sense, lol??

Yup. Happens to me too. I walk away from it for a while. Sometimes it takes a couple of days. Working on one like that right now. ARgh!

Haha!! I did yearbook and newspaper layouts in high school! Left and right pages are very different!

Love hearing everyone's thoughts. I should do this more often. Now, if I could just find the time and motivation to get back to that layout...

I know the feeling.... And suddenly you will get to it and it will be down in no time!

Back in the day, my scrapping friends and I would share screen shots in Hello!. I so miss that program! I scrapped so much more when we had that - every day could become a scrap party!

Now, I get frustrated and dump it and start over... or move on completely. My kids don't really care if I love the page or not... they are just happy to see their pictures and the stories.

Ok. So I Finally got back to this layout. All your suggestions were really helpful - had to get rid of the huge title and move it over as you yearbook girls suggested! :) I got to keep my pink striped paper but tried to add some blue. I ended up trading the first template for a different one. I'm much happier with the result. Thanks for the input!!

and here is the 2 page spread
