End of Year habits?|pad patter 12.27

well it was DS's b'day yesterday and we have family coming over for NYE - end of year is just a frantic mess here always - we did toy room clean up this morning, my to-do list is mostly bathroom cleaning (1 boy shouldn't be able to do the damage to a bathroom he always does!) and the front room is still a xmas/b'day toy mess (got rid of paper and boxes at least) but his room is just a hoarders dream and i'm mentally dreading that job tomorrow

Computer files?! That organisation happens sometime in Jan usually (in btwn MOC pages - that's possibly the one advantage this timezone has is some downtime btwn challenge posts ;) )

I have so enjoyed a 9 day break up country with family. Not really looking forward to ordinary life back in the heat of summer. But excited for MOC and a few other projects I have planned.

I'm going to be spending the next couple of days cleaning up folders and files and getting organized for the new year. Also need to get a folder set up of PL and decide what approach I'm taking this year. I need to get photos organized and kits where they need to go. I'm due a purge of stuff here before long as well.

i've done nothing. i've had a lot of doctor's appts this week. just routine stuff and it has sucked up a lot of my time. i did get christmas put away. dh just needs to haul the tree out and put the base in the basement. i really should organize some photos for moc!

I had a bit of a shock when I went back over my folders of images this week. I still have a couple of years that say CHECK...aaargh. 2010 forward is pretty good since that's when I started Project Life. If nothing else, that commitment has my photos in order for 6 years. Pre digital it's a crap shoot. Fortunately, the years from 2000 to 2010 are ones in which the bulk are trips we took AND the renovation of the house. Most of those are Dick's and I think, he has them all on CDs which I can access before the CDs become useless. it's hasn't happened to me yet, but I've heard of others whose CDs went bad.

I look forward to a post Becky Higgins is going to do on her own photo rescue.

I hope everything is okay!!! Take it easy and worry about you!!

I will probably start file folders for photos and try to organize my EHDs. I think I have 3 connected at the moment. :blush

I'm figuring out my OLW and trying to organize the office and get things ready for school and for the upcoming craziness of January and February. I've got a mental to-do list that is a mile long, so I really need to write it out and get everything onto the calendar. Ugh.

My folders are TLP organized!! I'm ready!! Still need to update the styles ... but we have a few more hours, right?

On the scrapping side, at the end of the year I set up new weekly Smart Collections for Project Life for the next year in Lightroom and also go ahead and make enough copies of my PL template for the entire year. I use the same template for every. single. PL. layout. (I used Design A page protectors for so many years doing paper Project Life that now my brain doesn't want to work any other way), so I just make enough copies of it for the whole year and then name them using the dates for the week and left/right side.

I find that this site is really helpful for dates for each week in case anyone else needs it for reference. http://www.epochconverter.com/weeks/2017

On the business side, it's once again time to whip my Quickbooks file into shape for tax season. Oh, joy!
