...does the thought of the end of the school year make you say :yesss:yesss:yesss

or

:tantrum:tantrum:hissy

For me:
:yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss

with a little of this :dizzy thrown in.

I am a teacher and it is always CRAZINESS at the end of the year.
I teach lots of grade levels and the energy level is ramping up big time and there is just still so much to be done, yet.....for us, we only have 5 weeks after this one (only 5 more Mondays, not that I am counting!).

Last summer, I was taking a summer course for maintaining my certification and that kinda cut into my summer fun, so this year, I am really looking forward to a fun and relaxing-ish summer.

I adore summer vacation, we really grow so close as a family. The routine of school is great, as is the alone time..but I still have pool drop offs for a few hours each week so I get some ALONE time, unless I go swimming too...lol
We are doing a whole lot of staycations this summer, and I love this idea too...we are even gonna stay at a hotel right in our home town to just eat food in bed and watch tv. and breakfast...lol

I love love love having my kids home for the summer. The schedule is going to be a bit daunting this year but we will make it work! :)

:yesss:yesss for me. I look forward to days at the pool and doing art & science projects and family vacations!!

Of course, I'm usually kinda ready when school starts again, too. :giggle

I look forward to it - mostly! We spend lots of time out at our little resort trailer and have lots of family time, but that doesn't come without my 3 girls doing a fair amount of fighting and not playing "nice", but we get thru it! Love the idea of no homework and no waking up early and getting out of the house every morning!

We don't finish until the end of the June, so some time left for us. I usually help with graduation and hand out the honour cords and the mortarboards, however this year I am also a parent of a graduate. I probably won't be behind the table but still want to give him his mortarboard and hopefully an honour cord.

Summer for me will be the usual of baseball but also prepping for the boy to attend college away from home....

My first thought after reading the subject was... is not soon enough! LOL!

While I would really, really love to be home with my kids all summer, I cannot. I have to work.... but I look forward to the summer so much! It is less stress for all of us. The no homework, and leisure time is so much more relaxed and enjoyed. We sign them up for camp - so they are moving, swimming, playing and having fun! This summer it's a new camp with lots of excursions, so I'm excited for them... as well as they are excited too. (I especially like the on-site teacher for the tutor time for reading/literacy, and math/science. LOL!)

If not at camp or at home, we will hang out with friends, BBQ's, check out the racetrack, or be down the shore (family shore house). I'm so excited to just relax at the shore, watch the kids play with others for a pick up soccer game, meet the ice cream truck, bike riding... and so much more.

We are even planning on signing up our oldest for surf camp... and the other for a marine biology "hands on, feet wet” marine and environmental education based learning experience! Think turtles, crabs, bay and ocean animals - all hands on.

The Jersey shore is not what you see on TV... ugh.

I think I'm excited... and it's a bit early... school doesn't end here until the 19th of June... BUT we do start heading to the shore on weekends once May hits!

I don't know yet. Ask me next year. ;) My oldest starts school this year.
Until then, I'll have the girls out of preschool for a couple weeks, and we're going to Vienna which we are all really looking forward to.

It seems like the school year just started and it's nearly time for summer vacation already! I swear, the older I get the faster time speeds up. Although I enjoy the more relaxed schedule of no homework and sleeping in a little, I always feel a little stressed over what to do to keep them away from the electronics. June will go pretty fast, they both have some scout camps going that month, July we hope to get away for a family vacation and August 12th is back to school for us this year, a week earlier than usual, at least for Tate who will be starting middle school. Summer always seems to fly by at the speed of light!

This will be my first "end of the year" since retiring from the last 20 years of teaching Kindergarten. I will be thinking of all the teachers at my old school and praying for them and my former students to finish strong and victoriously! I will see much more of my grandkids this summer and that is good. I won't have to fly to New York City (from the west coast) to see my granddaughter as she lives here now. So it's all good!!!!

I am definitely in the group celebrating the end of the school year. I still work during the summer, but the schedules are SO much easier with no homework or projects or sports to fit into our days. We spend LOTS more time going on walks and bike rides and spend our weekends at the beach. Life is good in the summer. :)

i love summer :) we still have 10 more weeks of school after this one, but i'm already looking forward to lazy days at the pool :) fun! the kids also have a lot of ice skating, gymnastics and tennis to keep them busy - and we have a 16 year old from france coming to stay with us for 3 weeks. should be a nice time!

i LOVE love summer ... for the lazy pool days, no homework and break from the stressful rat race. (although i am taking three classes this summer. that is sure to make things interesting!)

but we still have 2 months of school left. no spring green leaves yet and bulbs are very scarce. it barely feels like spring here. so i'm not quite in that summery frame of mind just yet ... but reading everyone's responses is getting me excited!!! i can not wait.

BOTH!!! I'm glad to have a break from work, but then I have to entertain Bianca.

Teacher here so :yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss:yesss

So ready for some down time, reading and relaxing. It will be crazy from now until then, but fantastic when it gets here!!

Ok, I have decided I want to put the brakes on the school year ending. . .graduation stuff came today :(

I've changed my mind on letting him go to college, I want my baby back :(

As a teacher, I'm excited, but we still have 10 weeks. Waaaaah. Of course, we don't go back until the second week in September, so I guess it works out all right.

I'm excited, but my son's freshman year has gone so fast. What I'm not excited about is the fact that he goes back to school at the end of July! That makes me nuts. :thumbsdowns:hissy:tantrum

I LOVE summer- I love the heat, so does Sarita- when she was in school we would normally not go on a hollyday because we would travel to South America for Christmas...which meant we got two summers a year!!!! when she started secondary school I couldnt takle her out for Christmas so we started doing hollydays around here/Europe. Past two years she has been a leader in camp, in 2013 here in London with the very little kids, which was day camp, the kids go back home at the end of the day, and also little kids in Manchester for a week-
Then last year she was selected for the Canada camp, so I spent almost 3 month without her here, but she would call me & Skype me almost every day :)
She will be leading camp in Wales this year as the Canadian wanted her back but she will be maid of honor for her best friend and is first week of August so she decided to stay, so she ll be in camp in Wales in July, but I get to "keep" her for myself in August!!!
I want to try to organize the Pad European meet, then that would be our holiday, otherwise we may go to Spain at some point...now she is thinking about applying for Uni again....so we ll see :)
