We all see them! We use them in the forums, and in text, sometimes email! I even found a quiz (lol) from cnn about them and your use! That was interesting! It places you in generational groups on how you use them! I'm a bit mixed, but I'm also a bit mixed on my generational habits.

What are your favorites? Top 5?
Do you dislike any?
Do you use them with family, friends or anywhere?

Oh, here's the CNN quiz:

Here's emoji Pictionary:

that was fun Jenn, thanks. The quiz got my generation correct.
I don't use emojis very often.

I love emoji pictionary! My library has done it before. :)

I literally commented to my daughter this morning about her favorite emoji that she used with me lol (the skull).

What are your favorites? Top 5?
smiley, heart, wink, confetti, thumbs up

Do you dislike any?
the skull (I don't get it)

Do you use them with family, friends or anywhere?
Anywhere

First of all that quiz was strange. I was born in 1971 but it said I was very millennial.

My favorite, most used emojis:
❤️

EDITED: Interesting! I selected 6 emojis there and none showed up except the heart. So the forum platform can understand the heart only. Here's a screenshot of my frequently used on my computer, which is similar to on my phone. The top row is truly frequently used. I notice new ones I've used always go there too, even though it's NOT frequently used. Like the fire cracker I only just used for the first time ever yesterday because I was adding content to my journal for a 2017 event yesterday. If I had just made my grocery list, this would be full of food emojis. Clementine stays there because I always get more of them!

I haven't actively disliked any emojis.

I use them everywhere they're available: texting, as bullets for my grocery requests in our family Discord server, emails, and in my digital journal. Daily.

I was amused by the last question in the CNN quiz, because I've been a fan of the smiley face before we even had a computer, buying it in sticker form and drawing it, and as soon as I learned to type it with punctuation, somewhere around 1994, I was always doing so.

Emojis:
Mostly Millennial, with a dash of Gen X
Punctuation:
Mostly Gen X, with a dash of Baby Boomer
Style and etiquette:
Completely Baby Boomer
Understanding others:
You got 27% of the questions correct

I'm a Boomer through and through (1953) ... I had basically no clue to answers for understanding others. I only text with a few people, mostly my granddaughter, plus my son, sisters and two grandsons (18 and 29).

What are your favorites? Top 5?
smiley rolling with tears
blowing kiss smiley
hearts around smiley (love smiley???)
thumbs up
smack my forehead smiley
Do you dislike any?
I really haven't looked closely at all the available emojis
Do you use them with family, friends or anywhere?

Family and the few friends I text with

I actually try to keep up with texting and emoji trends. So, I knew that "ok" and "thumbs up" are considered negative responses by younger generations. My kids know, though, that older generations DON'T understand that, so they aren't upset if I respond ok because they know that I really mean it's ok and not that I'm nad. :lol2 I probably use the laughing and heart emojis the most but I also make frequent use of the eye rolling emoji.

I love emojis and use them often in texts. My faves are the smiley, the laughing one, thumbs up, the wide eyes one and then either the clenched teeth one or the rolling eyes. Can't really say I have any that I don't like. They are just so useful. Like... a picture is worth a thousand words... an emoji is worth at least a sentence or two. :giggle

What are your favorites? Top 5? My top 5 are probably laughing, shrug, face palm, clenched teeth, and eye roll. I use emojis a lot!
Do you dislike any? I can't think of any that I don't really like.
Do you use them with family, friends or anywhere? I use them anywhere and everywhere lol

Thanks for the quiz! It says I'm firmly Millennial hahaha but, in reality, I'm firmly GenX. It also said I had a great understanding of others no matter what generation. Maybe that's because I have 2 Millennial children and 1 GenZ.
