Elf on the Shelf

The first year our elf came he was shipped special from the North Pole..he had to be mailed because he had never been to our house before ;) Now he just enters magically...nothing too fancy. In fact this morning he just magically appeared on top of our undecorated Christmas tree because my kids wouldn't get out of bed.

This was out letter from Santa back in 2011 when we got our Elf and how he explained the silly things he does:

I haven't read any of the other responses so sorry if I am being repetitive. Our elf is just for fun around here. We do not do any kind of "watching over for behavior" or "flying to the north pole" stuff. My kids kinda see right through that stuff anyway. It's kinda the same way with the Santa thing. When they ask us point blank if there is a Santa we tell them the truth. So, with our elf she just surprises the kids each day with different antics and they wake up to go searching for what she is into next. Even my 13 year old who definitely wouldn't believe in the elf flying to the north pole and such still likes finding her and what she has done. Our elf also doesn't get a welcome or a send off. We just drag her out of the Christmas box and shove her back in when it's time to pack up.
