EHD recommendations

I have had my Lacie EHD for about 5 years, I think, and it has given me no problems until this evening and it started just connecting and disconnecting from my computer all by itself. Thankfully I have used 2 EHD's for about 4 years so everything was backed up on my other one except 2 years worth of pictures. You can imagine my panic and I was just praying the Lacie would hold out long enough to transfer all my precious pictures to the other one. It worked and I got them all moved over but then when I came home from church tonight the Lacie EHD won't communicate with my computer anymore. It still has the power light on but it won't read anything.

So now I need another EHD and fast. I don't want all my stuff just sitting on one. What should I go with? I have a small WD one that I really am not fond of. It is very finicky and you have to have the cord sitting just right for it to work. Do you have one you love? Please link me up. Thanks so much.

Amanda, that is kind of what has happened with our Lacie ones too.

I just got another Lacie, because I still like the brand. This is the one that I got and I LOVE how small and portable it is:

I just replaced the cord it has with it. That one is way too small for me! (also, I am pretty sure that is more than what I paid for it a couple of months ago)
 
I have a 750G WD one that has been very very good to me for years.

I also have everything backed up with Backblaze, so I never worry too much!
 
My husband's good friend who is very techy oriented told us to get Seagate. We have a Seagate IHD for three years now with no problems. I also have a 750G Seagate EHD that I have had for a year and it has been wonderful. He did warn us against WD saying they go bad easily.
 
ok. Thanks ladies. I think I am going to go with another LaCie. You just can't beat the reviews on them and I have had my other one for years and never had any problems so I am gonna give them another try. Thanks for ringing in. I just hope it arrives soon.
 
I have 2 WD EHD & they have both been fine for years but like Debra I have backblaze too so I don't stress about them as much as I used to before feeling like I am backing up enough!
