I have been swamped lately. And still have 3 parties yet to host.
An ornament exchange. And 2 church holiday dinners.

My sons birthday is in 2 WEEKS!
I need to get the invites out in the next couple of days.
Usually I have tons of ideas.
But I got thrown off with illnesses, deadlines and the holidays.
(poor kid...why did he have to be born in the middle of it ALL?! LOL)

I thought of doing a build/ bake your own pizza.
-do 9 year old boys like that?
- what games could we do etc?

He also loves legos.

I found this lego party.
But it's cold here....I feel like I need more game ideas.
And I'm not positive these boys would just sit around
and build legos all day.
LOL
pluse, truthfully, i don't want to do a lot of work.

Other interests are science and music (guitar)
We could do a mad scientist party...
with mini experiments.
(but i want to try and keep it simple. LOL)

We could do something to do with music..
I could borrow my sisters rock band.
but if these other boys are like my boy.
i doubt they have the attention span for that.
ROFL

Do any of you have any ideas?

i know nothing about boys - especially 9 year old ones! but good luck! it sounds like you have some good ideas! i think if i had boys i'd find something OUTSIDE of my house - LOL - aren't they messy?!? hahahaha ...

uggh! i have a birthday party of my own to plan! we're doing an army theme this year, but as for games and such, i have NO idea!

i refuse to throw ce aparty.. LOL.. is that bad of me.. Our kids are close together bday wise (Ce's is dec 19th) and i've had enough trouble getting family to show up past years never mind other people.. so i am giving up :p lol he seems ok with it. We'll see if we can maintain that mentality (he's only turning 7- and i s abit socially.. um.... not? hahah so it's no bigs)

anyway :p

i totally think.. build your own pizza + mad scientist experiments (bubbly/fuzzy drink mixes? those candy/gummy things? i dunno.. hese seem cool to me LOL )
or you know. let them loose to play, and stuff t hem full of cake and sugar.. then send them home :p even simpler lol

We've done pinatas with our boys and they always love it! Give them a plastic bat though or they'll get inside too fast! LOL! :) I think they even make one shaped like a Lego... but that could go with any theme you decide on and it'll keep 'em busy for a little while.

yes, La, I have the same issue! it's nearly impossible to get people to show up... family is very disappointing! *sigh* I've thought a couple of times about doing the 1/2 birthday thing and just throwing him a party in the summer. Only problem is that would put his party in June, which is his brother's birthday, which seems unfair.

i told him he could invite a few friends to his bday party this year... it's usually our immediate family and then grandparents, and sometimes an uncle or an aunt. that's about it. i'm thinking i might just offer to let him invite one or two friends to go to a movie & then come over to play wii or something together... call that a party. for him, it might be more meaningful anyway. he's not really a super social guy either, so a big party might actually be a bit overwhelming for him. *sigh*

jacque, i think the mad scientist idea and the pizza thing sounds way cool!

So we went with the mad scientist theme.
He's so excited about it.
Our turnouts seem to go up and down.
I used to do his party at the city pool every year.
and we always had a HUGE turn out.
weird. He hasnt' wanted to go swimming the last couple of years.
Last year we did a robot theme.
and only 2 boys came.
so odd.
What was I thinkin having a mid december baby???!!!!

We did a Mad Science one year and it was a BIG hit with the boys. Ask them to do the dry ice in a bubble thing. It was way cool. We also made monster cupcakes (which was basically cupcakes the boys could decorate themselves.) And I bought all the boys science goggles and tongs from Oriental Trading company. After that I let the Mad Science guy do the rest! Pretty easy.
