My husband brought me home a brand spankin' new MacBook Pro today! It replaces my jurassic desktop. Which is to say, I have no idea how to use this thing. :dizzy

Be back in a month when I figure it out.
 
you made me make this weird noise, I will label a snort for lack of imagination...but I will miss you!
 
Sweet!!! Enjoy your new mac! They are pretty easy to use - mostly you need to remember to use the command key instead of control! :)

ooh, that sounds so very exciting! So, I guess you've figured out how to get to the forums tho hehe
 
So my first crisis is... my scrappy wife and I use YIM to share screenshots as we go, and that doesn't work with Mac. WHAT TO DO?

not sure what exactly you are wanting but you can easily send files w/ YIM. Is that what you mean? I suppose you would have to save the screenshot then send it, but it's easy peasy. you know the shortcut for screenshots?

command-shift-3 (whole screen) or command-shift-4 (part of screen). this automatically saves the shot to your desktop.

CONGRATS. Once you get used to it, you will LOVE it. We went to all Mac at home about eight years ago and windows at work drives me nuts now :).

I don't use YIM but I'm not sure why this wouldn't work. Yahoo Messenger has a Mac client that claims to send photos and files. (Or Adium supports Yahoo and sending files, if you also use other chat programs.) Screenshots are dead easy on a Mac. What part isn't working?
 
Also, I switched from Mac to PC about a month ago so I went through all this in reverse. LOL I know how you feel!

what about google chat? I think you can do it that way.

scrappy wife, eh?! hehe... maybe we could form a 'sister wives' family :grouphug
 
I don't want to save/send a screenshot. Just share it. They have a great photo sharing function that we keep open all the time. Once you had the photo sharing open all you had to do was print screen and then you could paste it in. But it doesn't work on the Mac version.

Good thing I'm not designing much lately, I'd never be able to do a kit without sending her 4827 screenshots along the way.

I have had this issue too with yahoo not playing nicely with my mac using chatty friends (aka scrappy wives - LOL). I really do love Yahoo's photo sharing - when it works.

Did you see the "I don’t need a file. How can I have a screenshot in the clipboard instead?" section on Take A Screenshot? It sounds like that's what you're looking for unless I'm missing something.
