Drives, Directorys and files

How do i begin to re-order things, to avoid future problems, like with fragmentation or corruption of the drive.

Fragmentation and corruption are not affected by your personal organization of files. Order them however you want.

Your operating system automatically handles fragmentation. You will almost certainly not have to worry about this.

To decrease the chance of corruption, do not unplug any EHDs without ejecting them first, and do not turn off your computer by unplugging or pressing the power button unless you absolutely have to. The best thing to do is keep a backup, because no matter what you do and how careful you are, every hard drive is going to fail eventually.

I agree with Lorry, backing up is imperative...I have two EHD's and also use an online back up program - I am NOT losing all my stuff, no matter how hard the computer gremlins may try to get it. :)

Anyone else have issues with color display in their program? I'm certain there's a color preference setting I have wrong somewhere, but the colors are off in my PSE 12. The white looks cream, colors aren't as bright. I can visibly notice the difference between viewing a product preview in the windows photo viewer window, and PSE 12 window when I have them side by side.... and it's not a monitor issue, because the same coloring applies if I switch the monitors (I have dual monitors) for the windows I have open, and I can see the difference when I am viewing after posting on the web, vs my PSE window. Anyway, just worried at some point it will cause me to do a horrible photo editing job or horrible shadow work. Haha.

Kristina: I have no idea of what could be...
I do know graphics start doing weird things when I m over loaded in my main drive (I use two external hard drives)
:(

Cath: you NEED online back up- you need to convince your husband is NOT a threat to security and you can choose to only back up your kits and LOs if he is worried they will snoop in your stuff, but is either you do that, or get an external hard drive and remember to back up every time you buy new stuff...plus remember that EHDs don't last forever.

I think a great percentage of us here has online back up?
I was with Backblaze until they froze my back ups because a problem with their side...silly me, because I didn't know how to uninstall on my own and re install, asked them for phone or Skype help to do it, they refused saying they didn't provide such service
I left it a LONG TIME in which Backblaze wasn't backing up and I wasn't either....so when one my oldest EHD died...I lost so much....Thanks to Laura I was able to recover all my stuff from here, but lots of old kits, stores I don't talk to people anymore, were lost.
So I went to crash plan
Crash Plan has a live chat service.
the guy was AWESOME.
I explained I was dumb, and old LOL and he helped me with a very good attitude, guided me on how to help to back up faster the first time by changing settings so the computer didn't go to sleep, only the display.
Every time I had to recover anything, got onto the online chat, they helped me, recover it all.....

I really REALLY think you should convince him to let you have the online back up .....
