What would be involved in your ideal Christmas or holiday you celebrate?

I'd like to experience a 'Hallmark movie' white Christmas one year - with that miracle snow fall but not so much you are snowed in for the month - but ideal for me would be skipping the whole event and just staying home the entire day with my immediate family so they can play with everything on the day and just be happy

Since I have had the "Hallmark" white Christmas many, many times, I'd like a tropical Christmas where we could go outside to play and not be cooped up indoors! We had a little taste last year when it was 70 degrees for Christmas and it was wonderful for a change. We do stay home the entire day, just immediate family and play with everything. We do our visiting either Christmas Eve or the day after and those who want to see us on Christmas Day come to our house :) That may change some in years to come when I don't have children at home any more or because of other circumstances, but with all the madness before Christmas, it's nice to just open gifts and relax the day away.

We get white Christmases here, but to some extent they're still my dream Christmas. I love snow on Christmas!

My dream Christmas would probably for my kids to experience the family Christmas I had as a child. It was so amazing to walk into my grandparents' house stuffed full of people... everyone bringing big boxes of gifts. With 20-30 people there, gifts were piled high around the tree and you never knew how many were for you or what they were. It was a Christmas with tons of homemade food and at least five kinds of dessert. And a hierarchy of tables... being the second to the youngest cousin, I never graduated from the kids table before my grandmother stopped hosting. The younger group of cousins and I used to rush through dinner and sit by the tree trying to guess what might be in the boxes. We all crammed into one room to open gifts and afterward we had the best paper wad fight that even grandpa and grandma joined in on. I'm an only child and my husband has one brother who is recently divorced so our Christmases are small and on my husband's side, tensions can run rather high. There was just something magical about that BIG family Christmas that I wish my kids could have experienced.

I think mine would revolve around the people, food and drink, fun gifts, games, and time. Location would be two extremes, one large house big enough to hold everyone, and still have open space/quiet, and gathering spots... either snowy and stuck in together for the day or on a tropical location. :)

We used to go to Florida every Christmas. We have not gone in the past 4 year due to the death of my husband's mother and the price of the rental house doubling. My perfect Christmas would be to be able to spend 2 weeks at the beach with all the family like we used to do. It's just too darn cold here in Pittsburgh.

Being from Ontario, I always had snow at Christmas and all these years later, living on the west coast of BC which gets almost no snow, I still miss it. So this year I'm hoping the snow sticks around until Christmas. I've loved this winter wonderland we're having right now. The other thing I would like to do is make Christmas less about what you get but more about what you do. It's not about the Xmas presents, its about family and friends and this year I am focusing more on that.

One year here we had snow fall on Christmas Eve, it was so magical to wake up to it. I'd love for that to happen again. It snows only a couple of times a year here so it would be special.

This year I'm going to have my own magical Christmas with our 2 new kids. We are actually going to do Christmas on Christmas Eve since we have church on Christmas Day, and my hubby and I have responsibilities at our church that will keep us busy. I don't want to be rushing around on Christmas morning...so we are going to pretend Christmas Eve is Christmas. We'll wake up, open our presents in our jammies, hang out all day just being together. It'll be awesome! We'll also go to Christmas Even service and then all of my family will come over...it's tradition & I love it. Then Sunday after Church we'll all go hang out at my moms, eat food and play games all day. I'm really looking forward to it...snow would make it perfect...although it might make us stuck at home.

This year ideal would be without seeing my son in so much pain, without the exhaustion and sadness this whole year has brought and for somehow the bad feelings within my family to be able to be held at bay. We are all working on our part, but it seems impossible. So we'll settle for a Christmas miracle.

I've always wanted to be in Italy, Paris or NYC for Christmas. I'm not sure why really, but it seems being in one of those locations would be really dreamy for some reason. :) No cooking, no cleaning, no taking care of everyone... dreamy.

I'm not sure really. I kinda like the way we do it. Christmas Eve day with my hubby's family and Christmas day with my family. They house is always trashed and we always eat too much junk from our stockings, and usually don't even get out of our jammies. It's kinda perfect. My hubby's dream is to not host both sides of the family and just do our family for Christmas day... like him, me and the two kids. They'd hate it though if their cousin's didn't come over. They've been together for every Christmas since they were born. Watching them play together and open all their presents is so much fun.

I work in the financial industry and thus my year end is very busy and extremely light on time off. Christmas comes and goes and I often don't even realize it. I'm so busy shipping things, trying to mail cards, get cookies cooked, gifts for teachers. I just can never enjoy the season I'm too rushed.

My dream Christmas is to have the entire month of December off (yes, shooting high here) so that I can actually ENJOY the entire season.

I would be done with shopping, wrapping, mailing, all before December 10. The last 3 weeks of the month I would want to be snowed in with my husband and kids and pup in a well equipped cabin in the mountains - where we have no cell phone coverage. Heat: yes. Electricity: yes. Fireplace: yes. Connection to the outside world: no.

Just lots of movie time, game time, family time, sleeping, walking through the snow...
That's not asking too much is it? LOL

Snowed in, but prepared with everything we need--no loss of power or Internet. Warms up and melts 2-3 days later. :D

I would love to spend Christmas in England. A tropical Christmas sounds fun, too. It's only the middle of December and I've already had it with snow and cold!

We almost always travel for the holidays back to where our parents/siblings still live (alternating years to my parents and DH's parents). It is awesome to be with family for Christmas but my ideal Christmas would be HERE at my house with extended family coming here. That does happen about every 5 years.
