I talked recently about my dog, a buff cocker spaniel, who has cancer. Lymphoma to be exact. A friend of mine said her dog was diagnosed and died a week later.

We've been so worried about Courage but last week, his report was SO good. The tumors were already 50-60% smaller. He goes for his 3rd treatment tomorrow and I am PRAYING for good news. We really need some good news around here.

We've decided for now to leave him at my mother in laws house, as much as we want him with us, she's home ALL day and cuddles and loves on him all the time. We are gone all day for work so it really does seem best for him to stay there. Hopefully in a few more months we will have a house in the works and can bring him home then.

Good luck, the tumor reduction is a good start. I'm sure he's loving the all day attention as well.

I'm so sorry Kat! Our first Weimaraner had lymphoma - due to her age and other medical issues she had, we opted not to treat her. She lived another 4 months or so. I'm so glad to hear his treatment is going well!

That's great news that the tumors have gone down so dramatically. I'll be thinking of you and hoping for more good news tomorrow.

It was a tough decision to treat or not, I never thought I'd do chemo on one of my dogs, but he's healthy and happy otherwise and they said he wouldn't feel too bad during treatment (he's been doing really well) so I figured why not... We had another dog, an akita mix, who we didn't treat for cancer. She was a nervous dog and wouldn't have wanted to go to the vet that often plus her tumors where in her lung and by her heart. She lasted about a month and a half. That was really hard.

Here's a happy Courage picture from recently, lol...

So glad to hear that he's responding to the treatments so far!

Thanks ya'll! The news was just okay today... he couldn't have his chemo, his white blood cell count was too low, but the tumor near his groin was down to marble size (they said it got to be baseball size, which I can't even imagine!)... the other lymph nodes are back to normal size... it's about as good as we can hope I think. And what a relief, with everything that's gone wrong, it's about time for some good news.

Hugs! I'm glad he's responding the the treatment and has a good nurse to help take care of him!

kat, he looks so soft just like my Buffy was. If he is responding to treatment so fast that is super good news.

Courage looks adorable. I'm so glad he is responding so quickly to treatment and that he's got a great nurse to cuddle him all day. Hugs!

Oh Kat I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. We had to put our Golden Retriever down at age 7 due to cancer.

I'm glad that you got some good news though, that is definitely encouraging. {{hugs}}
