Does anyone else do this for MOC?

I like to use the MOC each year to complete one album - maybe not all the pages work or I only get it mostly done, but I try to stick to one theme for the whole MOC. This year, I decided I needed to FINALLY finish my Bibliophile Album (I have met over a hundred of authors, worked in books for over a decade and traveled around the country). My first big author event was the 1994 American Booksellers Association Convention in Los Angeles. I met a ton of huge names - Stephen King, Dave Barry, Kirk Douglas, Dean Koontz, Pat Conroy, James Earl Jones, Ray Bradbury, Christopher Pike and more. I know that I still have the 1994 guidebook with all the details in it...but I CAN'T FIND IT!!!

Does anyone obsessively tear your house apart trying to find that one thing so that you can scrapbook it!!!???!!

I mean really, I can't be the only one in my attic for 5 hours searching through old memorabilia!

No. You are not alone. What a fun career you've had too. I'm a Librarian, recently retired, but haven't met any authors that I can think of.

Oh my goodness, what fun idea for an album! I hope you can find it!
I've had a similar experience, one time I did Ali Edwards' Week In The Life project and recorded all my notes in a digital platform. When I went to compile the album, I couldn't find the notes ANYWHERE. I thought I used the Day One app, then I checked Google Keep, and several others - nothing. I still have no idea where the journaling from that week went. I have all the photos and I should put them in an album, but I still haven't. It's just not the same without my notes!

I no longer work in books, but I still love them. I started working at a local B. Dalton at 15 1/2 and stayed there until I moved, then I went to an Independent Bookstore called A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books between those were just over a decade. Sadly, my bookstore closed and I needed something that paid a bit better.
When I first heard about book conventions and author signings, I was IN!! I mostly stay local and didn't really meet any while my kids were little, but I am excited to fly across the country this fall to go to a big signing once again.
The 1994 ABA was a big deal for many reasons. I guess there are a lot of articles written as there were a lot of political figures there and the original upheaval of the brick and mortars losing ground to Amazon. The Rock Bottom Remainers performed one of their biggest concerts. I REALLY want to find my booklet!

That sounds really fascinating and like you have had really great experiences! Definitely would make for a brilliant themed album.

I don't scrap albums (I've never even printed a digital page) nor do I scrap chronologically. I don't think I could bear the pressure of feeling like I have to do something in order and I wouldn't be able to move ahead until the one thing was finished. Heck, I won't even post my MOC pages on the tracking thread out of order!

Good luck with finding your memorabilia.

How cool that you've met so many authors! That's really fun! I definitely would (and have) hunted and hunted for something that I wanted for a scrapbook page, so I definitely can relate! I hope you find your booklet!

Hmm...I haven't done MOC to specifically finish one book, but I really like that idea! Now...is it too late to change. hahah. Maybe next year!

I think that's such a cool idea for an album, and such a great use of MOC time! I try to use OLD photos (as much as the challenge allows) so that I can 'catch up' on older layouts before I forget the details! lol Currently I'm trying to finish up all photos from 2016 & 2017! While I don't necessarily tear apart the house looking for something- I DEFNITELY spend too much time looking for ONE PHOT that I know I have somewhere in my hard drives! ;)

I try to make layouts for my books all the time with challenges! MOC is the perfect time to get lots of pages done! Right now I'm working on my 2025 yearbook (currently in March) and our trip to Japan. Unless it's a photo challenge that needs a new photo or something I don't have a layout for - mostly the pages are for ongoing books!

I don't do that but I realized I start combining challenges when I'm behind. I think maybe because I have them in my head. But I was working on the side title layout and realized as I was doing my journaling I was looking for typewriter fonts for the other challenge and had already used a coffee & donut themed kit along with the side title.

I have folders for most projects on my iPhone and one folder simply called Pages & Projects. I nest albums inside for plays, shows, books, lectures & random photos I'd like to scrap. If I a specific story/photo doesn't come to mind, that's one of the first places I explore after reading a new prompt. The project folders are for major trips and have photos selected for specific days or events. In those project folders, I also keep an album for completed layouts and one for photos I've already used.

I love the idea of a bibiliophile scrapbook! And yes, I've torn my house apart for the one item I need to scrap, although I do that more for paper layouts than digital layouts. That one ticket stub, or ballet program, or photo (gosh, I really need to organize my printed photos!!! and don't ask me about my negatives from the pre-digital days!

I try to use MOC to fill in some albums I'm working on. I usually am working on 2 at a time so I don't get bored. I've used this MOC to fill in some missing holes in the 2023 book I need to finish for my daughter's birthday in March, so when challenges fit that, I scrap that.

I hope you make good progress on your album!!!
