I love watching documentaries! It really doesn't matter what they are about. We recently watched a fabulous documentary on the Bee Gees called How can you mend a Broken Heart. I also watched the Linda Rondstadt one called The Sound of my Voice. Not sure why we have been on this trend of watching 70's music icons documentaries but they are very interesting! We also watch a ton of historical documentaries including World War II documentaries.

Do you like documentaries? Have a favorite or one that you would recommend?

We LOVE documentaries. We're currently watching "America's Book of Secrets" - I'm not sure if it's under documentaries or docudramas - they're both about the same. We love anything about The Silver Screen Era of Hollywood, or WWII.

Some of our other favorites: Iris, Halston, anything about The Kennedy's, The Roosevelts, The National Parks (With Ken Burns).

Just finished watching Keep Sweet Pray and Obey on Netflix. It was horrifying and fascinating at the same time.

We just started watching D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! on Netflix. Funny story ~ a former neighbor who lived right next door thought her husband that passed away right before we moved into our new construction home was D.B. Cooper because he claimed to be on his deathbed. She was interviewed by Dan Rather. She had people come out with metal detectors. I think one of the reasons she hated us so much was that our lot was just wooded and she thought at some point that the money was buried with one of their dogs on our property. LONGER STORY: We had to get a restraining order against this woman. So it's interesting to note that they ruled out her husband very quickly into the first episode. LOL

Some ones that we've watched in the past few years:

Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist
The Innocent Man
Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes
Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel
Worst Roommate Ever
The Keepers
The Pharmacist
How To Fix A Drug Scandal
Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy
Love On The Spectrum U.S.
The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness
Tell Me Who I Am

I want to watch:

Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives.
Murder Among the Mormons
Girl In The Picture
The White Tiger
House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths
The Andy Warhol Diaries
Daughters of Destiny
Audrey
Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir
The Martha Mitchell Effect
Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It
Ella Fitzgerald: Just One of Those Things
9to5: The Story of a Movement

I love documentaries, especially true crime. Netflix do many good ones. The Keepers, The Staircase, Casting JonBenet, Murder Among The Mormons, Carmel to mention a few.

Also liked Searching For Sugar Man and Marley to mention 2 about music.

Best (or should I say worst?) documentary I've seen is Dear Zachary. I didn't know anything about the story, I was totally unprepared. I was just sitting by the telly, had watched the news, and the movie started. Sucked me in completely & it was a roller coaster! I cried so much, it hurt.

we like documentaries too... we saw the Bee Gees one too and liked it.. I love the historical ones re George Washington, Ben Franklin, Theodore Roosevelt, Ulyssis S Grant (History channel I think they were on) and others that we see .. I can't think of them off hand but besides Kennedys and Marilyn and Frank Sinatra etc.

I like documentaries and docuseries a lot! I love searching Netflix for new things, specially on the true crime theme.

I also watch a few stuff on Brazilian streaming, about stories that happened here...there are a few important stuff about things that happened here

last ones I had seen on Netflix: L'assassin de ma fille (a Father's search for his daughter murderer)
- girl in the picture ( sad...but a good one)
- our father ( this one every woman should see...we are never safe, not even in a doctors office!)

a bittersweet documentary about Val Kilmer's life, I think it is on Amazon Prime, so touching: Val.

@gonewiththewind I started Keeping Sweet, couldn't finish it...it's so sad and bizarre...I ll try to finish this soon...

I cannot wait to see this.. will watch on the weekend

If you have HBO Max, beginning on Thursday July 21 a 6 part documentary on Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward will be showing.. Ethan Hawke directing and George Clooney & Laura Linney reading as Joanne and Paul when voice recordings not available.. looks awesome.. It is called "the Last Movie Stars"
Trailer:

We watch a lot of history Channel ones on wars or mysterys... my daughter is into serial killers...
I love learning new things so they are interesting to me...we just got done watching like a 9 part one on ww2.. which was very interesting and in depth. I learned things I didn't know before... about both sides of the war.

I finished "Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey" recently, and am currently watching "Under the Banner of Heaven" which is also related to fundamental Mormonism.

I never seek out documentaries, mostly because I feel like I already watch too much TV, but my hubby loves them. Quite often he'll find a good one and then I get sucked into watching some of them too. Lol. He just watched another one of the DB Cooper mystery and he's watched MANY about that same topic. :giggle

My hubby just watched Our Father. I could not believe that happened. It happened a couple of hours from where I live too, so that was kinda creepy!

I don't have any streaming service so haven't seen any of those documentaries. But I do spend a lot of time on programs on Oxygen, Discover ID and HLN that are mostly crime focused. I especially like the program "Cold Justice" that is on Oxygen channel. And, then there is "Forensic Files". Doesn't matter if I've seen it before, I love that show!

HLN is has a series now called "Very Scary People" and they focus on 1 person for 2 episodes. There are some very scary people out there!!!

Oh, I love Forensic Files too. Even if you know the case, you learn so much new. Cold Justice is good too. And I love the old shows of Unsolved Mysteries. The new show on Netflix is not as good as the old ones, in my opinion.

I remember watching the original Unsolved Mysteries too. I am waiting for the new series of UM on Netflix. The story of the French family was so sad and crazy.

Unsolved Mysteries just isn't the same without Robert Stack. Dennis Farina was decent as well. I also loved America's Most Wanted with John Walsh as the host. I tried watching the network reboot with Elizabeth Vargas but it just wasn't the same. John Walsh does have another show called "In Pursuit With John Walsh" and his son, Callahan works on it with him.
