Do you buy coats for next year now?

I need to buy Bianca a coat for next year and the one I want is still a bit STEEP in price. :thumbsdowns and there are only a handful left in her size. Do you buy or wait for better sales. It seems like last year the sales were good by this time, but prices are still high on coats at least for little girls (7-14).

PS. Do you know of a place that has good coupons for BIG online companies? The coat I want for her is Eddie Bauer.

Seriously, nobody is looking for coats and clothes deals to have more money for scrappin' supplies?
 
I do! I have 5 kiddos, and usually I have to buy 2 coats a year. This year Braden ripped hip coat - its still wearable but not pretty, so he's on the list. And my 2 youngest are growing out of theirs, so this year I'll buy 3 for next year.
 
I don't know about coupons or anything - I usually just wait till I see Old Navy having a sale on them and grab them then. We don't do anything fancy - I just can't!
 
I keep forgetting you have 5 kiddos Kelley, I don't know how you do it! Well, we are looking for non-girly, non-pink, non-purple, no-ruffles coat. LOL!!!
 
I only buy new coats for my boys when they rip/destroy/or grow out of the one they are wearing. The youngest wears hand me downs. Then, when they need a coat, I go to the consignment shop and get whatever fits them and is nice looking. I've gotten so lucky there every year and end up with new looking coats for about $10-15 bucks! Yay! :)
 
I used to, but my kids have hit the age where they don't grow so much from year to year. Clara is on her third winter with the same coat. She used to be shorter and little more squeezable... but she's shot up and slimmed down so the same coat still fits. Alex's I bought for $20 and a major clearance at Gap last year right after Christmas. It's still really big on him so it will last a while longer.
 
I've been lucky with winter coats!

last year Ty got one for his birthday from my mum and dad, it has his favourite football teams emblem on it - and he was over the moon! It still fits 11 months later and he just got a new one for christmas from our neighbour!

His lighweight jacket cost for the summer is pretty reasonable £ wise around £10/12 which is about $16/18 ?

Plus any he grows out of and are still in good condition get passed over to his cousin
 
My kiddies were lucky they both got really nice thick winter coats for crimbo of their nanny and grandpa, came just at the right time as both the coats where getting a little on the small ish side, well sort of son is 6 and half but a tiny lad and only just gone into size 6 clothes, his coat is stunning, cost a bit from Next £48 and little mini me is only 3 but she is already wearing size 4-5, she grows so fast bless her........keep saying I need to stop putting her feet in growbags at night time.........lol
I tend to buy as and when they need as I end up forgetting baout them and end up selling things as they are too small and never got worn.
 
We sometimes buy coats for the next year. I want to get them Columbia jackets for next winter so we'll be looking for sales!!
 
I usually buy one if I think they're going to outgrow this years. I've noticed that you can always find a lot of little sizes (4/5) and big sizes (14 girls) on clearance but the middle sizes sell out quicker, so I've been buying Katelyn's while they're still kind of high. She's been two years in this current coat, but I'll probably be buying one next year. Luckily, I've saved all her old ones, so her little sister won't need a new coat for a long time, lol.
 
Oh you gals are good! You see B already ripped her coat. 2 months using it at school and it is ripped! Like seriously... do they even keep an eye on kids at school now a days. I have been pretty lucky, my sister used to send me her daughter's coats (Columbia ones, they looked brand new) but I stopped accepting them because my daughter will KILL them. I don't think it's fair, so I tell her to sell them in her local consignment sale.
The one I got her in DEC is Eddie Bauer and I only paid $30 (including tax) for it at a really good after xmas sale. I got a size 10!!!! She is 6 years old and a skinny stick but some how the size 8 was too small. I hope it lasts for next year and if it rips I am bringing it back to the store for a new one!
 
4 of our 5 kids got new coats this year. 1 lost his. 2 out grew theirs. The oldest girl had a light pink coat - no matter how often I washed it, it just looked gross. 3 kids got new snow pants due to growth of legs.

Oldest kid got two new hats and new hoodie to wear under her Varsity jacket - what senior would be caught dead not wearing their varsity jacket??!!??

Winter coats are expensive. Funny though - there are bathing suits in stores for more $$ than the winter coats!!??!! Does this even make sense?????
