Digiscrap Auction gift for my son's school - need input and ideas

My son's PTA has a spring auction to raise money for the school. I was thinking of making a digi scrap gift to place in the auction. The gift would basically have gift certificate to buy digi supplies, and I might put together a paper showing examples of what you can make.

At first I just though I would get a store gift certificate to buy scrapping supplies.... but then I started thinking of other things, like photo books and even software.

I figured I would just not worry about a book. But what about the software?? I know a lot of people are aware of Photoshop, through comments like "let's photoshop so-and-so into the picture" or "we can photoshop out our wrinkles." But I don't know if most people actually HAVE photoshop software to use. Getting a store coupon to buy supplies is pretty useless if you don't have software to use, right?

So now I'm thinking that I should devote most of my (meager) budget to the software. I think the latest version of PSE would be ideal (you can install layer styles really easily I believe). But have I missed the really good deals on PSE already?

Has anyone ever put together an auction item like this? Do you think having the software in the gift is essential? Or would focusing on the supplies, or a gift code for a book be better?

I did something sort of like this a couple of years ago. It was an online auction to raise money for dog rescue. I donated a "custom photobook" from Shutterfly. I had the winner upload her photographs to a free shutterfly account, then I went in and made the photo book myself (using their tenplates) and after she approved it, had shutterfly mail her the finished product. She seemed happy with the result.

Oh, that's an interesting idea. The PTA said you could auction your "talent." Maybe I could do a S4H type of auction thing.
