do you eat your kids candy from trick or treat?
lol
my boys love to give me all the chocolate! my tummy is a bit off...but wondering do you? will you?

My daughter saved some Reese’s for me because she has a peanut allergy and I LOVE them! I might eat a piece or two of other stuff. She doesn’t mind sharing at all.

I usually sneak some of their candy... hehe DD gave me a caramel milky way or something like that last night and I loved it! I just moved her pillowcase full of candy from the kitchen to her bedroom so I won't be tempted.... it's so hard when it's just right there begging to be eaten. I'm trying to be good and not gorge myself on the sweets this year.

we tried to give it all away .. I don't have any kids but what we gave out.. still have a few kit kat bars left but I was giving 4 out each :) The littles are so cute.

With the amount of candy that we usually get - my one son counted 450 pieces that he received!! We have a set procedure for candy after Halloween. :giggle

My boys trick or treat, and we all go back to a friends house for dinner. They all sort, trade, count, weigh, and eat a few pieces of course. When we get home, they dump it all on the dining room table, each gets half a side. Boys take a gallon sized ziplock, and fill up what they want. Then DH and I have a turn. All the leftovers are given to my work or Peter's work. I don't like to throw it out... as someone paid money for it, so someone is going to eat it!

Colin will usually fill up half a bag... and eventually, I will bring that to work. He doesn't have as big a sweet tooth as everyone else. The rest of us will dip into our bags here and there for dessert, but after a month, I figure out what to do with the "leftovers," again... usually my work or DH's. :)

I had a record 25 trick'or'treaters!!! I gave away everything I had. Our kids are big enough that we can't just munch on their candy without them noticing anymore, so we have to keep it above board. We call it the "Dad tax" and "Mom tax." Basically, every time they dig into their candy, they have to give us something too. I will probably let them binge on Friday or Saturday night. But, other than that, they will just get a few sweets a day. If there is somehow candy left on Dec. 1, it magically disappears, to make room for the impending holiday candy deluge. They've never asked about what happens to the candy after December 1st, so I've never told them.

@AnneofAlamo Good to see you back online after your mini break.

As for candy, I need to do a layout about this halloween b/c it is the first time in my life that I did not eat any candy at all. It seemed weird to not dip into the bowl and help myself to some goodies as I was giving it out. But I stuck with my resolve not to mess up my keto diet plan by eating any of it. So what I did was eat a keto friendly (made with coconut flour) pumpkin pound cake later after the kids were done coming to the door and I ate a huge piece and enjoyed every bite. I earned it :)

I have in the past simply because they got so darn much! Maybe that sounds silly since the point of trick-or-treating is to get candy lol, but when the kids were quite little, like 3 or 4, we went trick-or-treating with friends and it was more about the socialization than the candy...yet people would say "Oh, what little cuties! Take more!" Um, no: They're preschoolers, they don't need more. So I'd take some candy simply so my kids' teeth didn't start rotting out of their mouths.

Now DD is older and she pays more attention to her candy count. DS is still young, but he's either paid attention to DD counting her Reese's PB Cups, or he's just savvier at a younger age lol. So I didn't take any candy this year. I did spend $20 on my OWN candy today. I like to wait until it's 75% off, but I wanted to get out of the house so I just picked up some at half off. Not a biggie. ;) (Okay, it wasn't all for me: I got some candy for DH and York Peppermint Patties for DD, cuz she loves them and her #1 fave candy, Almond Joy, has been outlawed until she's done with orthodontics. In 1 to 2 years. She's not too happy about that!)

We have a mommy tax at our house too, but it’s not just for Halloween candy. It’s for anytime mom wants a bite of what you’re having... hehe

When my kids were young I was more inclined to steal pieces of candy. They're usually willing to share if I just ask for one or two too. But nowadays I'm less interested in sugar.

When my kids and their friends were trading candy last night I asked for and received two mini Snickers. This morning I found a Milkyway (still wrapped) on the floor and claimed it. And just a few minutes ago, having just finished eating lunch, I asked my daughter and got another mini Snickers. That's not to say I haven't eaten too much sugar since yesterday evening though! Someone brought a cereal/candy snack mix for our party table and I've eaten quite a bit of that!

I totally blew it yesterday and my tummy was NOT happy!! I ate two of the larger Tootsie Rolls, a Reese's PB Cup, Reese's Pieces, a fun sized Snickers, a Heath Bar, and a York Peppermint Patty...so ashamed!

I don't even know what to do with all the candy the girls got...way more than I had expected! Rileigh went with some of her friends so she was able hit more houses than Sonnet...but it's insane how much candy they both got, and not ONE icky thing in the lot! Maybe let them binge this weekend and send the rest to school with my daughter to give to her teacher to pass out as treats/rewards? If I liked Garry's coworkers more I'd send him to work with most of it, but couple that I do like, they're trying to lose weight so I'm not going to be that person and send it in.

We didn’t buy candy as we don’t get Trick or Treaters any more. I not only didn’t eat any candy, I didn’t eat anything as I was doing the starvation prep for today’s colonoscopy. Thank god its over!

My kids don't go out anymore, so we just raid the candy I buy for the trick-or-treaters. And it's always the chocolate we love to eat: M&Ms, Snickers, Twixt, Milky Way.

I don't really eat much candy, but I do get the Butterfingers out of the bag :) DS doesn't like them and he gladly gives them to me! He didn't trick-or-treat this year, so I made sure that I bought Butterfingers to hand out, knowing we get very few trick-or-treaters (we had 4).

Nope! No kids at home and no kids in the neighborhood anymore means that I didn't buy any candy at all. Because if I did, I would have eaten it all!

No... our youngest is 18 and we live on a busy road so we don’t get to hand out candy either.
My neice took her 3 children out. She seperated most of the candy and dropped it off at the local Sheriffs office and they in turn send it to the troops. A teachable lesson for her kids, and they still got to keep some.

I had a mini Snickers and mini almond Snickers last night after walking in the freezing cold for 2 hours. That will be it though!

@AnneofAlamo Hiiiii!! Missed you!!!

We had a lot of talk in local newpaper FB pages about trick or treating, and every year Halloween gets bigger in Australia, but we didn't actually get any trick or treaters (good, because we didn't have any candy!). We didn't go ourselves either because I am still on mostly bedrest for my back, but a couple of Melody's school friends did and they got quite a lot!
Melody is going to a "Spooky Party" on Saturday.

My kids do NOT cope well with candy. We aren't super healthy, never eat junk, kale smoothie, homemade everything people (would love to be, but not going to happen at the moment!).. but my kids have always been really affected by sweets and most jynk food. They get bad tummy aches and their attitude and behaviour go into meltdown.
The local library did a launch of a book that Melody (and a load of other kids) took part in making, and they served morning tea as well. Cake, chips, popcorn, etc, and the BLUE-est fondant on cookies that I have ever seen. The kids went ballistic, Melody was rude and mean (even to her best friend who was with us) and they were both bouncing off the walls. Took about 6 hours and a lot of tears (had to send the friend home) for Melody to calm down, and Bellamy basically passed out from exhaustion.

So we don't keep much candy in the house, and when the kids get it from parties or as gifts, there is quite a strict rule of (maximum) one piece in the AM and one piece in the PM.
Candy usually makes my teeth hurt, so I do try hard not to eat too much, though I reckon this year I would have definitely eaten a lot of their candy, lol!!!

Oh and this is the blue cookie... and my kids shared it. Most had one or two each...
